Any comments on the Winter Book?

Yeah, there was no Dispatch headline about the plunge three months ago, so why should there be one about the return to normalcy now? Instead of nitpicking about the lack of coverage, Grego should just be relaxing and breathing a huge sigh of relief.

Tim Feran got it right; he knew what the big story was this time around. And it almost made me choke on my Raisin Bran this morning as I read why Clear Channel is going to continue WYTS' current format in spite of the drop -- because it wants talent like Ingraham, O'Reilly, and Savage to remain "tied up" and unavailable to rival stations. Yeah, right, there's a broadcast company out there that wishes it could just steal 'em all away ... because IT wants to be in last place next time!!!

LOL! And it's interesting that Feran doesn't cite a source for that laughable rationale. I'd love to know who that source was. Or maybe he just dreamt it up...

Only more laughable are the ratings for WYTS.

Here's what's really laughable, Roo. It's a standard industry practice. And I don't mean just broadcasting. You may be laughing here, but I bet you're crying at the gas pump due to the consolidation of companies like Exxon-Mobil, BP-Amoco, Chevron-Texaco, Marathon-Ashland.

And, Roo, I'd take Feran's journalism skills (and my own) against yours anyday.

Be careful how you respond, Roo. Look what happened to Dirty Harry.

Did you read the final words of Jake's post? Your analogy is really a stretch. Exxon-Mobil has no use for stinky 17-octane gas. They can charge $17.00/gallon or $.01/gallon. No one will buy it. They'd be more than happy to let someone else have it,

"Anyday" isn't a word, Mr. Journalist.  Did Tim teach you that?

Oh, so YOU are the culprit!  Well I'm just so pleased that my post presented you with an excuse for bragging about it.  Bask in the glow, Sean!  You are one BAAAAD dude!  Oh, and maybe now we know who Tim's Deep Throat was for that laughable observation about why WYTS won't dump conservative talk.

I think maybe I finally figured out what you were trying to say.  Namely, that a franchise like Savage's could actually be competitive locally if a good-signal station went talk and picked them up, and that this could hurt WTVN.  As I said, it took awhile for me to figure out what you might be getting at. And the specifics of the Oil Company analogy remain unclear.  No wonder you're a fan of Feran's writing style.
