Any Oldies in Altoona area?

What's new? Is the last post in Altoona really january 2nd or does the old DELL need put right back in the box and shipped off again?

I think there are things to be addressed in Altoona radio. For one, does anyone do remotes any more? Are they successful? Do listeners still turn out to meet the joc? Is the joc nice to the listeners? Does the client have "door grabbers" to get the listener in like hot dogs and soda pop, is the parking situation reasonable? How about banners? Who puts up the banners. sales execs or the joc? Does a remote at a business cause that business to go "out of business" and/or file for chapter 7 or 13 soon after the broadcast? What are some of the memorable Altoona remotes? How long are the remotes, 3 hours, four hours? What about talent fee? How many breaks per hour and how long are those breaks? Remotes-good, bad, indifferent? Let's hear it boys!

Shouldn't there be a new post for this? I don't know how many people will respond to the "remotes" question in the "Altoona Oldies" category.

Kind of suprised Fryman can figure out how to even post here. I'm sure starting a new topic is uncharted waters for him. That said Fryman, do you have your summer schedule for the Fry wagon yet?

One date so far, across the road from Sir Barneys at Prince Gallitzen State Park. First weekend after memorial day.

congratulations fryman. it looks like your lunches are booked solid from here on out. that's some fine food.

Was that THE Frywagon parked the Lewisburg for the ice festival last weekend. I took the polar bear plunge in Susquehanna and after I got dried off and warmed up the Fry purveyor was gone. I thought you were ordered out of that part of the state?

just found this out
for oldies in Altoona
try 1370 AM WKMC based out of Roaring Spring
their owned by WRTA so its pretty much all syndicated satellite shows with the exception of mornings. you can even listen live on facebook

I've been enjoying listening to Good Times, Great Oldies 1370 WKMC over the interwebs. It's so great to have an oldies station back in Altoona that is locally programmed. Sean McKay and Caleb James sound awesome on WKMC.

And I bought a new radio for my kitchen counter-top which works fantastic with the Radio Campus stations from Altoona. I've got them on button presets. Crystal clear digital audio makes it as if the station were in my backyard.

Dead air GALORE on that station...dinosaurs for announcers...crappy signal..who cares

Those "dinosaurs" are about the same age as 75% of the talent on Altoona's top rated stations. And those "dinosaurs" have more talent than many of the younger jocks in the market.
