Any thoughts on the spring book??

Out of all the NYC FM stations Hot97 is #1 in the Newburgh/Middletown book. Very shocking to see, seeing how it's one of the hardest stations NYC FM to get here in Orange County with 96.9 and 97.3 right next to it.

According to spring ratings book for Newburgh, Hot 97 beats Kiss-FM 96.1 in the overall ratings. Both of the stations are just urban.

WPKF absolutely punishes them in every demo that matters in Newburgh-Middletown.

If WDST had a signal a bit closer to Poughkeepsie I bet it could be within the top 5-6
They do. It's broadcast off of Illinois Mountain at 106.3. A weak signal, but local to Poughkeepsie nontheless.

It's very difficult for a niche format like AAA to perform so highly overall.
Although the core audience may be very oyal...its tough to appeal to the mainstream.
Even great stations like WXRT, KFOG, KMTT, WBOS, and KINK have difficulty.
KBCO is the only example that come to mind of a consistant Top 5 performer.

Kiss is a Rhythmic/CHR, not an urban. Kiss' music mix is leans more pop then it did 3 years ago and some of their currents and recurrents are songs rhythmic and urban stations would never touch.

And for whatever it's worth, HOT 97 is also NOT an Urban station. WBLS & WRKS, however, are.

Arbitron Errors

I was still looking up on the Spring book from July that a few stations that has some errors according to the Radio and Records site. WRWD-FM/WRWD-AM was usually there, but it's now WRWC at 99.3 and WCZX/WZAD are still listed, but WZAD also carries "The Wolf" from 94.3 on 97.3, as for the rest of stations mistakes are WBPM and WGHQ are still listed as Clear Channel, but it's not anymore, WBPM was labeled "Oldies" and WGHQ is still listed as "Adult Standards".

I guess we should wait for the fall book, not the summer book, but it's already out somewhere. Just be patient for the fall Arbitrons. ;D

You do realize that Arbitron has no control over how that information gets listed right? The stations tell Arbitron how they want to be listed...joined/seperate, what they are etc.
If you look at Newburgh, WTSX is still listed with DLC as Clear Channel and Oldies instead of Sunrise and Country...it's just a lack of updating not an error. The people who need the numbers know what they are looking for and not worried about watered down 12+ data anyway.

huh?!?!
There are never any summer books for the Poughkeepsie book... Its a Spring/Fall rotation

Yet again does Disney even know what he's talking about?!

Disney, whats with all the aliases?? Musicradio77?? Methinks you weren't even a gleam in your father's eye when Musicradio was blasting out of the dashboard on my car.....or is this just part of the mystique?? Go figure...can anyone shed any light on this anomaly??
