Anybody post on here that played radio at WTTU in Cookeville in the early 80's?

This quite possibly could be my most narrowcasted post on RI, but I just have to throw this out to a handful of die-hard
radio VIPs who went to Tennessee Tech in Cookevegas. My daughter thought it would be worthwhile to check out Tech
as she'll be attending college somewhere in a year. So, of all the people still teaching --- Dr. Earl Hutchinson, the Journalism
Dept's Director and still in charge of Tech's student radio station WTTU... While the music has changed, the campus looks
a lot better than it did when I was there in the early 80's...dammit, all., it was a blast hearing Dr. H remind me off all the
things I managed to do almost a friggin' quarter of a century ago...seems like yesterday. He mentioned Jay Joyce, Steve Boots
and a handful of others from my era ... I just have to wonder ... some of you guys have to check RI out. Terry Mc? I know
you posted here a time or two. The the various classes of TTU early to mid 80's ... hi and hope you are well. Love to see a
post here. Hey!

The Joan Jett ALBUM we played 6 million times was still in the window of the lounge by the studio. What fun we had.
It was exceptionally great to see Dr. Hutchinson! Truly one of the best!

Apologies all 'round for rezzing a two-year-old thread...I realize that's taboo, but I saw that you're still active on the boards here so thought I'd send a shout-out anyway.

I was in Boots' second-from-last training class in '81, and was on the student management team by the time we moved from Safety & Security to the UC in '82. Probably my most embarassing moments ever in broadcasting were when Jay and I did Golden Eagles baseball play-by-play...it was sad, but fun. Although the tapes are in sad shape now, I still have recordings of the Super Summer '84 bash that Pam, Angelo, Robin and I did...my station ID that over-played for 3 years...some prod work Eva and I did...and the complete Brezhnev tapes with Mark C, Mike O'Connor, and Buddy C kickin' the bucket...good times all. I still have a box full of old roster sheets, on-air schedules, and stuff...including the reunion list of former jocks from the big party in '82, so if you're having any trouble remembering any names I can probably fill 'em in.

Went 'pro' in '85 with two years at WHUB (hahaha), then spent 4 years with Jet 107 in Monterey. Off to Alaska in '90 for a run with KBFX 100.5 the Fox and PD at KENI talk-radio. Used several different names, but that's probably enough info for you to figure out this edition of "Name that 80's radio relic"...

Jet 107!! I was a kid when it came on the air! I was so excited about it.

WTTU seems to be stuck in the late 90's. When I listen I don't hear new tunes.

Talk about a blast from the past. I was there in the mid to late 1970’s. I remember the “less power than a light bulb” ID? Does anybody know what happened to Steve Denton (spelling of last name could be wrong)? He was there in 1975 or 1976 IIRC. I know he went to W.KY University with a lot of other talent from WTTU then resurfaced at the 102.3 Soddy Daisy / Chattanooga. I think he was part of the WRUS FM Nashville move in. Steve had one of the best voices I have ever heard. Nice guy no big ego.
