Anyone been hearing WZFG 1100 from the Fargo area the last couple of nights?

There is a 1040 in San Diego, but I guess they're very weak.

Not sure if they're even still around. If so, they're very weak indeed! :)

There's a 1030 just across the border in Baja that makes it into coastal Orange County. There's a strong 1040 in Vancouver (relatively speaking). As you might expect, however, they're highly directionalized at night. I stay frequently in Burlington, WA....about an hour south of Vancouver. WHO is a regular there.

As for 1100, I'm 55 miles NNE of San Francisco, and KFAX is more or less all I'm hearing on the walkman these last two nights.

For the record, KNBR is easily the strongest SF signal up here...KNX and 1090 "XX" (English ESPN)...from Tijuana are the strongest skywaves at night. KOMO and KKOH also quite good. Also, I don't know what's more weird....hearing the KFRC calls on 1550 or hearing Scott Shannon on a CBS station. Or perhaps its hearing their promo begging for ad dollars....talking about their "big signal" while the claimed "big signal" is getting chewed up by several other stations!

Are they really begging for ads?

Yup.

"We've got a big signal" is part of the pitch. I'm sure that's true in Redwood City, San Mateo, or anywhere else near the stick(s). Perhaps not quite so true in South Bay, East Bay, North Bay, etc. Daytime signal here in Napa Valley is so-so until about two hours before sunset, when it really starts getting torched.

The other thing CBS is up to in these parts is simulcasting KCBS on 106.9. Format flip somewhere here? I say this having been listening to KIRO in Seattle promoting the move of their news/talk to FM and the coming of all sports to 710. My understanding, however, is that KCBS is doing at least somewhat better than KIRO. (I definitely stand to be corrected on this).

I didn't know you could get KIRO in the Napa Valley. I thought there was a 710 near Sacramento.

I believe you're correct....but a weak-to-moderate KIRO basically owned the 710 channel in Napa the past three nights. Not sure if this is the rule or the exception.

I'm not sure what their directional pattern is, but when I was in San Francisco several years ago, the 710 near Sacramento put in a strong signal.
