I worked with him @ DJX. He was actually the 2nd morning guy on DJX, or 3rd if you count me as I filled in am drive the first several weeks the station was on, I forget the first dude's name, didn't last long. I could tell a couple of stories, but...aside from Dave-O their was a lady doing news that was also a part of the show, I can't recall her name either. I'm glad to hear all these years later he's alive and doing well. Brought back some really good memories, I had such a great time with that station. Here's some trivia...know the first song we played on DJX the morning we launched @ 6am? Be caller 9...
I talk to him pretty much on a regular basis via email mostly. Yeah, he's doing quiet well these days.
After he left DJX he ended up at a station in Allentown, Pennsylvania. They made him change his On Air Name to "TJ Grey". I guess station management felt that the name, "Shotgun" wasn't the best name to use in a Northern town like Allentown. He really hated that station up in Allentown. I don't even think he was there for a year.
After he left Allentown, PA he ended up at Z-104 in Norfolk Virginia in September of 1987. I believe that is the station where he first started using his current On Air Name, "Doc Holliday". I lost touch with him in 1989, and didn't get back in touch with him until just a couple of years ago in 2005. I have been back in touch with him pretty much on a regular basis now.
He ended up down in Orlando doing mornings at "XL-106.7" in 1990. He was at that station for at least 17 years, up until March of this year.
After he left "XL-106.7" back in March he had to sit out for 6 months due to the "No compete" clause that was in his contract with Clear Channel. He finally hit the airwaves again down in Orlando at "K92" back on September 10th of this year.
He seems to like it quiet a bit down in Orlando. He has become a pretty popular name in that market over the past 17 years. He loves the weather, and has no intentions of ever leaving Florida from what I can tell.
He also does the play by play calls for "The Orlando Predators" down there. He's also had quiet a few other accomplishments here in the past 17 years. His voice has been used on Nickelodeon also.
I'm happy for him.
