Anything going on today? Rumors?

Wow. You are joking, right? I'm not in the market, all joking aside. Before anyone in the CC camp gets too bent out of shape, my earlier comment was ment more as a joke on the industry itself, not their product specifically. Most all corporate radio is nothing but watered-down milktoast anymore.

That WAS a joke! But if your in the market, it was funny... But NOT quite what I was looking for... No one else?

From the same FB thread when I asked if there were more details:

Mediaverse Memphis Confirmed. He's no longer with the station. Don't have any details beyond that at the moment.

Too bad for Tim.
The world of broadcasting has certainly changed in 30 years.
He has probably seen a lot of these changes.
A new Market Manager is probably the next one shown the door.
Time to clean up at CC Memphis.

Loosing your job is never a good thing since thats what feeds us and keeps the lights on. It can turn into a good thing sometimes too. Tim is well respected throughout the industry I think and I hope this ends up just being an opportunity for him to move to something bigger and better.

Insiders confirm that Spencer was shown the door yesterday. Declines at Rock 103, an inability to grasp what worked on WREC (helping Mike Fleming and Ben Ferguson out the door in favor of Andrew Clarksenior, who they killed in favor of a syndicated show), and a general unwillingness to understand the four urban station he was also responsible for contributed to his demise. Probably the same reasons they got rid of Ralph Salierno, the Director of Sales a few weeks back. CCR took 50 cents out of every radio advertising dollar spent in the Memphis market back in 2008. Last figures have them down to 43%....and that translates to being roughly a million bucks behind where they were at this time last year. Ratings translate into dollars, and when the sales dept. can't sell it, and the programming dept. can't deliver, it's time for a change. Spencer canned some great and good talent over the years....Drake and Zeke, Dennis and Ric, Jarman, and the afore mentioned Fleming and Ferguson. In the process, he gave fuel to his competition that ultimately burned him. Given the performance, GM Oppenheimer has a few months grace period to replace Spencer and come up with a plan to resurrect Rock 103 and WREC....or he'll be joining the ranks of the unemployed too.

I have no inside knowledge, but I doubt that it was Tim's idea or his choice to let folks go, especially with Rock103.

I would agree with that; I suspect the bosses at CC HQ gave him no other options.

HAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAAAAA. YA "THINK"? That's a riot!

Is all this making you feel good about yourself?

Perhaps you can share your 30 year resume with the rest of the class?

Personally, even if I were working at the top station in the market I wouldn't be joking about anyone losing thier job.

That's the way this board works. people take shots at other people, predict the demise of radio, bemoan corporate america and long for the good ole days. sometimes, when someone gets shot, they get a little credit for their work but mostly they get thrown onto the heap of all that is wrong w/ radio. i guess the real experts troll the boards and the idiots run the business.

I'd have to agree with that. I believe Tim had to go along to get along. Clear Channel evidently finally came for his job.
