April Ratings

And that's all fine and good-- but more Atlantans listen to Melissa Carter and Greg Black as a whole than Michelle Wright and Andy Rose. In fact, for a while- middays were ranked the highest.

This could also be due to the fact that the afternoon broadcast is better to listen to than the AM broadcast. Also, WSB-AM's morning news product is superior to AN106.7.

Art tells us >>> All News is a very older-skewing format, with WSB being more of a middle-aged male station.<<<

Well, it depends which markets we're discussing. All-News stations, either on FM or with an AM-FM simulcast, do pretty well 25-54 in Chicago (WBBM), San Francisco (KCBS) and Washington (WTOP). In morning drive, WINS NYC, an AM station, sometimes gets in the top 10, 25-54.

WSB, being an AM-FM simulcast, does pretty well for a Talk station among the 25-54 crowd. But WYAY is an FM All-News station. So it has the potential to catch some younger listeners who only listen to FM. Of course, All-News stations grow verrrrrrrry slowly. So we'll see if Cumulus has patience with it.

All news 106.7 is doing better (6+) than the All news operation in Houston.

I have never heard of an All News station starting out very fast. The all news format does allow lots of commercials which helps to defray the personnel cost. I wonder how much cross station promotion there is in the cluster. I know the sports reports on 106.7 are branded 680 The Fan, but do the "news briefs" on 99.7 and 101.5 come from "the All News 106.7 newsroom"?

Um, no. I was referring to the all-news FORMAT, not the station (but I can see how it could be confusing.) All-News FORMAT leans heavily 50+ in most markets.
