Are daytime talk shows successful?

I believe all talk shows with a studio audience give their studio seating away for free.

So far that is what I am seeing, looking at Ellen DeGenres page I do't see it when looking but I am assuming that again they are free tickets, where you can have up to 3 guests, plus yourself but you do have to give your guests names, so really you can't transfer tickets. And they can't make money on the show when they give free tickets away, in less they have sponsors for the shows. Ellen does her shows from Burbank where other shows even more the morning shows are done from New York. Steve Harvey;'s second of his tv show was done from Las Angeles, where it originally did it from the NBC tower in Chicago when he first started.

Ellen's tickets are interesting. More and more she gives her audience 'tickets' to come back for 12 Days of Giveaways or another special show, just because they were the lucky members. I'm guessing getting a ticket to 12 Days of Giveaways, without being in the lucky taping, is near impossible nowadays. All of her previous audience members come back to get free gifts and surprise trips. (Cue the screaming of 250 people in the audience!)

If katie was charging more than 10 thousand an episode then abc was wasting their money.

Disney was the syndicator for the Katie show, and I don't think they considered making over $150,000.00+ per week-per-station, was a waste of their money. The show flopping meant the affiliates were the one's that were hurting. The only regret I imagine, was having to write that check to end Katie's contract earlier than expected.

Here is how you get tickets to a taping of Ellen: https://send.ellentv.com/tickets/

They all love Seacrest. All of the networks seem to have some sort of deal with him.

Because the pros outweigh the cons. Sure some people don’t like him. Some don’t like Kelly. Some didn’t like Strahan. Some didn’t like Regis. It’s the nature of the biz.

And whatever the odd Josh Elliott (seriously, who?) fan contingent may think, there’s no way he’d be a viable candidate if Seacrest left tomorrow. (A highly unlikely proposition itself.)

I still dont get why so many people think he cant be successful on daytime he was successful at espn/ gma so give him a chance please executives reading this you will not be disappointed.

Many people have been "successful" at ESPN or GMA. That doesn't mean they're going to be considered for an evening news anchor role, or co-host of the national morning talk show, or what have you. He was a blip on the radar of GMA all things considered, a newsreader serving a comparatively brief stint.

He might be successful but given his track record I don't think anyone trusts him anymore. He bailed on NBC, Bailed on ABC.

I get the feeling he was pushed out of abc by lara spencer and the other person i forgot the name but i kind of feel like maby fox sports could pick josh up and have him cover regional games or bring him on as a sideline reporter or something for NFL.

Nothing that was reported supports that proposition. Spencer has a different function, and Elliott was replaced by Amy Robach.

Elliott’s patron saint moved up in the company, and Elliott took what he perceived to be a better offer. Good for him. But that crashed and burned, as did his next stop. Seems like there’s a pattern there.

Sure, Fox could bring him on if they had a need, but they’re also not hurting for other available talent that may bring less baggage. Given that choice, I know what I’d generally pick.

Josh Elliott does a good job on First Responders Live for Fox I hope Fox will bring that back for Summer or if a program fails in the fall or midseason.

I dont get why fox doesnt put him on their nfl sideline reporters since he started in sports journalism.

FRL may or may not be back. It's cheap, gets ~2 to 2.25 million viewers, we'll see.
