So you don’t want to hear “Celebration” by Kool and the Gang every day?!A lot of music is played at weddings to get the crowd in a mood, that doesn't mean I want to hear it on a regular basis.

I wouldn't mind, but I prefer to listen to standards and that's not one.So you don’t want to hear “Celebration” by Kool and the Gang every day?!
Is the new version as good as the one with Jim Lange?I wouldn't mind, but I prefer to listen to standards and that's not one.
Someone called it "Celebrate" on "Name That Tune" and it was the first song of the Golden Medley. Only celebrities get to keep going after they miss one.
I don't even remember the old version. Is the new version as good as the one with Jim Lange?
No. Nor Tom Kennedy et al.Is the new version as good as the one with Jim Lange?
I tried watching it and I thought Randy Jackson had lost so much weight that he looked like his head was too small for his new body. Agreed that Jane Krakowski isn’t great as a host either.I don't even remember the old version.
The band is great. I don't even have to like the musical style to enjoy watching them perform. Randy Jackson has a great personality. But Jane Krakowski is the host, and they could do better.
Tell that to the teens and 18-24's.
There's always something enjoyable about hearing a song on the radio that you don't get from spotify or youtube or wherever.
This is precisely why many college & non-commercial stations (and their audio feeds) are still thriving - and, conversely (and regrettably), why so many for-profit stations feel the need to have a half-dozen stations in every market all playing the same songs.
According to newspaper coverage at the time, the oldies station I listen to (America's Best Music at the time) was sold to a local college and used to train them for broadcasting careers, though the goal was to make a profit (and this was possible given the emphasis on community news and information). The former owner, though, continues as the morning DJ, and the station continued using satellite formats, so I don't know how far they went with that. According to someone on this site, there was no relationship between the radio station and the college. They're two very different things. A college station can use unpaid hosts and can exist simply as a student activity. A for profit station has to make money. When you talk about doing something that might be useful to a music fan, who statistically is a small percentage of the audience, then you're better off doing it as a non-com project where you don't have to make money. Because, to put it simply, it won't make money.
