Are the rumors true?

I heard from a semi-reliable source that CBS/Phoenix will be out of it's misery soon and that Kris Abrams a.k.a. "The Richard Nixon of Phoenix Radio" may be shown the door. Does anyone know if this is true?

I'm suspecting that you were either let go or not hired by CBS in Phoenix. The fact that KOOL is consistently among the top two or three in 25-54 must be quite upsetting...

David - Nope. Neither of those. I'm not even in radio, but know someone who is currently working in his building. I believe that Abrams has just been lucky with KOOL. As for KMLE, he killed it. Oh the stories I've heard....

Uh huh.

"Bitter, party of one, your table is ready."

I'm having trouble connecting Richard Nixon to radio. Was there 18-minutes of dead air on his aircheck? Was he a mourning man?

I know absolutely NADA about the situation, but...in defense of Brooks Garth, there's been plenty of discussion on this board in the past about how unpopular Mr. Abrams is...

Feeling love Brooks?
I'm thinking David Eduardo is correct.
There is more behind your statement than hearsay.

Why is it when someone expresses an opinion---remember why they call them that---that another disagrees with, or spreads a rumor, that they must be disgruntled? Ever stop to think that maybe they’re just expressing an honest feeling, or that the rumor is one they’ve actually heard? I’ve got to say the “not hired, or fired bitter ex-employee” argument is as old and tired as radio itself!

If a person who makes claims or opinions doesn't hide behind a fictitious identity, the debate as to whether he or she is a disgrunteled employee is moot.

If he were not the real Steve Goddard, the real Steve would contact the moderator and have the post(s) removed.

No, the username 'sgoddard' is not exactly copyrighted, so if someone wanted to call themselves 'sgoddard' on this board they could as long as they wanted to. No driver's license is required to choose a username, or prove who you are.

I'm the guy that's been on valley radio for 30 years beginning on KZZP in March 1980 and (gratefully) continuing through today at KOOL. During my 42 years in broadcasting I've always used my real name and this board is no exception.
Hope that sets things straight. You can drop by KOOL sometime if you really want to see a photo i.d.!

As a fan of radio, never worked in radio, i want to say that Steve has to prove to no one on this board anything! You sir have done your job. You're an endangered species in valley radio and i thank you. For that, i speak for all valley radio fans, you sir have earned the right to say what you want, when you want, and how you want, what ever means necessary. If something is going down @ CBS radio, someone will have actual facts, but for now, these are Internet boards people, INTERNET BOARDS!! Post what might be, could be, or what it is.

Is there nothing better to do this afternoon or what? If you wished more current on-air personalities would chime in on these boards once in a while (because it's NICE if they could), check out some of your comments here and it sums up why this board's sadly a turn-off.

P.S. - Who else here plays Bread for KLL? :) Hi Steve!

Who made up that rule? Although I think I already know. And what difference would it make? Do you mean to say that simply because someone may have been fired, that they can't have an opinion or pass along a rumor, without being disgruntled?
