Atlanta Radio Slogans

WPCH - All Music, All the Time

('70s WPCH when it was programmed by Jim Schulke)

"Atlanta's Rock Station for the last x Years. 96 Rock"

Then CC blew them up.

Going waaaaaay back - when WAKE ("Big Wake") was Atlanta's only top 40 and before Quixie - WQXI was a variety station that branded itself as "The People's Choice".

They also carried the Atlanta Cracker games.

(I'm gettin old.) ::)

For full effect, you have to say it with the correct intonation and pauses so long they sounded like dead air. For you newbies, the "Silence Channel" stunt for Rock100.5 was a perfect parody of that, and the VO guy for the stunt sounded just like the VO guy for Peach.

W-P-C-H. Peach. FM 95. All music.....all the time. Relaxing. (cue the next song)

Clear Channel's Wild 96.7 about 10 years ago, doing a takeoff on V-103: "Atlanta's Little Station."

Peach 94.9: "The no-nonsense guarantee."

WWWQ- You think Conan had it bad, try negotiating with Cumulus
WZGC - Cracking the top 10 in our key demo every eight months
WNNX - Quality Ro, no wait - Atlanta's Rock Sta, no wait...we'll get back to you
WSB-AM - What else are you going to listen to on AM
WQXI - That's right Steak
WSTR - Dumping Steve & Vicki may have been a mess-take
WGST - Really, we are still on the air
WSRV - We will play that same Aerosmith song again next hour too
WVEE - What, like getting ratings and revenue is hard?
WYAY - 10,001 songs and counting
WGKA - Rated number one...in our parking lot
WDWD - Jabba17's daughter can't be wrong

The one that always cracked me up was, "WGST - when news breaks, we fix it!"

Didn't early episodes of Jon Stewart's 'Daily Show' use that same monker?

I also like "The news watch never stops"...not sure if anyone in ATL has ever used that one, though.

Back in the 1970s, WSB called themselves "Interstate 750", promoting their class A clear status.

There was also the "Pop Top" that Z-93 used with "We Built This City" by Starship:
"We built Atlanta on rock and roll, Atlanta's hit radio Z-93!"

Pop Tops were great. They were done for a number of songs. PAMS also had a version.

The funniest part, though, was that Z-93 was in the twilight of their CHR days at this time, and NOBODY thought of Z-93 as a rock station.

You forgot about KISS 104.1/WALR. Originally called "Atlanta's R&B Station" from its beginning to 2004 since then it's been "Atlanta's Old School R&B Station" (current).
