Auction 109 results for Arizona

Whoops... I meant to state "Village of Oak Creek", a census designated area near Sedona. The station will have a two-bay array on an existing tower. The signal , even ss a 54dBu , won't reach Flagstaff.. It will.need an upgrade.

If T-Mobile/Vertical Bridge Holdings owns the structure (recognized as separate from the land), the way I read that certification is that it is valid as far as the FCC is concerned, and may be a matter for other regulatory authorities.

A station licensed to Sells, AZ looks like it would be very difficult to legally build out.

...unless controlled by the Nation

Estrella's 700-watt ERP 92.3 Class A at Tusayan received a Construction Permit today (11/3/2021). Being outside the Mexican border region helped this one quickly get through the approval chain..

What in the world do they plan on doing with this.. where are they gonna move/upgrade it to?

I think the commercial station licensed to tusayan about a decade ago was on 92.3 as well. It went silent because of health issues and $$ with the owner then got deleted

Interesting - Today (11/4) Estrella's proposed 100-watt 293A (106.5) in Salome, Arizona was granted a construction permit by the FCC. The tower site is only 157.2km from the Mexican border. I guess given the low power level no coordination with the Mexican telecom authorities was required. (Perhaps it was just rubber-stamped by the folks south of the border.)

Another Regional Mexican outlet in the middle of nowhere special.

I think Estrella Broadcasting is a different company than Estrella Radio, if that's why you're predicting a regional Mexican format. I don't think the former currently programs any non-English language stations.

Being that it's a different frequency and a few kilometers closer to the border than what Mexico approved with the allotment, I think they were just quick!

This is the Estrella Broadcasting in the auction:

Thud! That's the sound of ITM LLC's submission for yet another downgrade on their Fort Mohave, Arizona proposal. On January 11th, ITM submitted paperwork to downgrade the proposed 6.1kw Class B1 to a 1kw Class A that does not even encompass Bullhead City under the 60dBu contour.

If readers will recall, the original Auction 109 allotmemt was for Essex, California as a full Class B. ITM LLC paid $190K for their winning bid. They subsequently filed for Fort Mohave as a B1. (There must be more to this downgrade strategy, perhaps an adjacent station gets upgraded.. .just speculation.)

Details here:

Interesting change of events regarding this Auction 109 entity discussed below:
Case solved for previously-thought missing Heber-Overgaard 94.7 (Channel 234) paperwork . Estrella won in Auction 109 for $20K the permit for "MM-FM1180-C1" . It seems Estrella moved the proposed station to a site near Sedona, assigning the community of license to the Village of Creek. The signal has been downgraded to a Class A at 500 watts ERP at 226.8M HAAT. (The application is currently in "Accepted for Filing" status.)

The FCCdata.org listing is here: https://fccdata.org/?lang=en&facid=762491

The engineering study is here:

Re-allocation study is here:

This is a smart move - a smaller physical layout still gives 52,181 population in the 60dBu and 14,538 in the 70dBu. Perhaps Estrella can figure out how to upgrade this to a C3 at some point.

** UPDATE **

Estrella Broadcasting refiled on 2/10/2022 to move yet-again to Blue Ridge, Arizona (to the east), as a C3 but still on 94.7MHz, 3.5kw ERP at 259M HAAT. The only "city" of significance inside the 60 dBu contour is Winslow. The Village of Oak Creek looked promising so there must be an solid motive for this further change. The chess game continues..,

The new 1kw ERP Fort Mohave station now has a callsign. It's "KIDD". That was former callsign for a Monterey, California AM station. (The FCC has yet to approve the B1-to-A downgrade but a similar downgrade was approved for KVSU, Desert Hills.

Problematic: With the new LMS system I can't seem to go back into the FCC records and pull up the old engineering study for their now-defunct Village of Oak Creek Class A proposal. I wonder what happened? Blue Ridge is a definitely a downgrade.

The FCC last week approved the downgrade of KIDD, Fort Mohave, from B1 to A. It will operate with 1lkw.

ITM Licenses originally paid $190K in Auction 109 for this allocation listed in the auction pool as a Class B in Essex, California. Given ITM's quick launch of KVSU I suspect KIDD also rapidly will hit the air.

Oh yes, KVSU has a website ... jill1063.com.
