Kroq does not have a good morning show!!!
Mornings are not a big deal in the alternative format. Afternoon drive is the main target.
KROQ has hired someone to create events for this station. They're hoping that will be a profit center.

What's the 4th? I'm only counting KCBS-FM, KRTH, and KTWV. KNX is just outside the top 10 6+, but I would suspect most of the audience is 55 and over.History. With 97.1 they're clearly trying to find something that reaches younger demos. They haven't hit on the right formula, but clearly that's the goal for this station. They already have four top rated stations that appeal to 25-54. They need something that competes with KIIS.
For KROQ, the company just hired several new programmers to oversee alternative stations. They're not going to spend money to hire people, and then blow the station up.

None. I was just replying to your point that they had 4 stations that appealed to 25-54, when they only have 3.
May be KROQ should go classic rock...
Technically, KRTH and KCBS-FM are "Classic Hits". Not really classic rock. KGB-FM San Diego is Classic Rock, KTYD in Santa Barbara is Classic Rock. Those two stations are significantly different from each other but are still Classic Rock. LA currently has no station like either of those. KLOS is not Classic Rock. That wasn't my point.
They already have two other "classic" stations: KRTH and KCBS.

That depends on what audience your talking about...KTYD certainly plays well known rock tunes from the 70's and 80's and beyond but they also play less familiar deep tracks from various albums.
I think KROQ will rebound. But i also think they should go in a more classic directionNone. I was just replying to your point that they had 4 stations that appealed to 25-54, when they only have 3. 3 is still a lot, though, and I agree that Audacy won't (and shouldn't) flip KNOU and KROQ-FM. It seems there already adjustments being made at the latter, so we will see how those work out for the station.
Agreed its boringKroq does not have a good morning show!!!
Not that this will actually happen, but LA doesn’t have an all-sports station on FM. Any chance that ever happens? Some of the local teams are on signal impaired AM stations.
Well, WINS, WCBS, and WFAN are among the top billers in the entire country, so Audacy NYC has that going for them.Audacy is doing much better in LA than they do in NYC
KTWV is aging out. It is now pure 45 and older. If it was me I would go with a music intensive morning show. It's been working with Kearth and KTWV. Its doesnt take a genius to figure out what should be done with KROQ
But all three of those are enormously expensive, but still among the only viable formats for AM or an AM/FM combo.Well, WINS, WCBS, and WFAN are among the top billers in the entire country, so Audacy NYC has that going for them..
