Automation Shootout

The new automation is coming. We're down to two systems: IMedia Touch and BSI. The reason is for operator simplicity and, of course, reliability. Audio Vault, while very good and at a competitive price point, was ruled out because of what we believed to be a complicated way of getting it done. We may be wrong. The system would be used in live assist mode most of the time along with some unattended use. Would appreciate hearing from BSI and IMedia Touch users (and other system users). Good...bad...war stories...reliability? Thanks.

I have stations running BSI and I have stations Running I-MediaTouch.
Mediatouch wins hands down. No second guessing on that.
any questions On it feel free to talk to me about it.

Between those two? Probably ITouch, but I echo the earlier poster, why not NexGen101?

Because it's Clear Channel? Fuhgetabout.

Stay away from BSI, but ultimately, you WILL be happier with Prophet's NG101.

Swear.

Shure, I know you asked about BSI and IMT, but add me to the long line strongly suggesting NexGen/PSI101. It... is... a... tank.

Due to an early investment in Prophet, the boys from San Antonio may own them, but PSI is operated quite separately from CC, and they are expected to hold their own.

You can play with a full-feature single-user 30-day demo here: http://www.psi101.com/software/demo.asp

Disclaimer: I do not work for CC, but I used to, and really respect what NexGen does.

Thanks for all the replies. Prophet (NG Digital - the big one!) was a little out of budget range. Always thought that NG101 was stripped down and not designed for the rigors of commercial radio. Let me take another a look at it.

NG101

NG101 was intended as a "budget version" of NexGen, quite capable, albeit not the monster NexGen is.

Running PSI/NEXGEN 101 here, I have no complaints, easy to use, and solid. The only thing that dissapointed me about PSI101 is that you have to buy an add on "cart chunk module" to get it to read the song data that's embeded in Jones/TM Century's Gold Wave CD libraries.

Two thumbs up for PSI 101!

If you really want simplicity and reliability, on a budget, I'd suggest the UDS2 / RadioSuite system from On-Air Digital. The audio server is Linux based and rebooting of the PC running UDS2 is basically unnecessary.

(Disclaimer: I do not work for OAD. We have been using the UDS system since the early 1990's, at KEOM).

NexGen and Maestro (Scott), thumbs up. BSI might work for a single station AM but thats just my opinion.
