That's where the smart money is. Or is this another way of yours of making a back-door point..that girls are smart, boys are dumb? In truth, I don't think either sex has cornered the market in insipidness.

I was wondering if 'someone' was going to take it that way. In this specific case that was not a point that I was trying to make.

In actuality, I am not of the "if women ran the world there wouldn't be any war" ilk. Same with insipidness or brains. They seem fairly evenly distributed between the genders, Larry Summers notwithstanding. (Though in fairness to Summers, what he was referring to was the dispersion around the mean - the smartest guys appear to be smarter, which of course leaves the dumbest guys dumber, which might apply to the rest of this post).

[Jane makes bad arguments which, IMHO, undermines the liberal point of view.

Ummm...didn't we recently have this discussion concerning nitwits standing in as representatives of political philosophies? How do you like it now that the hand is on the other foot? Why not just consider that nobody posting here represents any view but his/her own, and the classification of such (liberal, conservative, libertarian, idiotic) is left to the discretion of the reader?

We did indeed recently have this discussion. In fact, if I recall correctly, your objection was that ChrisNH had not posted anything to indicate that he was an ideological conservative. Which suggests that you think there is such a thing as an ideological conservative. Care to expand on that??

You should also be irked by the fact that you were the only person here who gave Chris credit for being able to think his way out of a pay toilet and yet you still managed to get attacked. He may be running up a karmic deficiency which is approaching the toxic level, but your dunce-detecting skills aren't exactly setting the world on fire, either.

Difference is one hates herself and tries to ingratiate herself with all the guys. The other hates, well seems like everyone who is weak, and tries to ingratiate herself with, oh my gosh... all the guys (she did say that is her target demographic when she was on the air a couple of weeks ago).

Dagnabit! 1) serves me right for not looking it up. 2) was thinking Spanish. Having looked it up, shouldn't it also be contendere?? guess I'm not a lawyer. Wonder if Howie's lawyers would get that one right?

I've seen it both ways. And, of course, just because I took Latin doesn't necessarily mean I passed it. But, as a practical matter, the only Latin term you really need to understand in order to navigate most of these threads is 'non sequitur.'
