Probably because "Bob", like "Jack" and any other variety hits station, is a gimmick format. It lasts a short time before you switch it. It's not "built to last", so to speak. In other words, Steel City Media might decide to go back to Classic Rock one day, so why give up call letters that have enjoyed relatively long market heritage for the past 17 years?

Since WBZZ is not avaliable, I would go with either WBZB or WZZB.
I really don't think that the calls make any difference whatsoever to what the listeners think about the station. That's been beat to death on this board many times. The only people interested in the calls are radio geeks like us...
