B-96

You are right about that. Their music presentation and overall format is much better. If you have not listened to their new morning show I would give it a listen. J-Niice and Julian are sounding better and better by the week.

We all love Ed and JOBO and they are an important part of the stations heritage as a Dance-Top 40 station,, but Julian and J-Nice are both pleasant to wake up to,,,, they play more music, they are in the stations target demo... Eddie and JOBO where great, but they had been making a huge cost to CBS making millions on morning drive for 20 years in the number 2 radio market,,, give the younger guys a chance.. Its not like Ed and Jobo are going to be homeless in the streets, its time they retired and spend some time having fun with family, and get out of this Winter Arctic region they call Chi Town and head to Miami,,, maybe go to the beach or something.. NO PUN......lol

B96' ratings went down to new lows for recent times and management had to make the change whether we liked it or not.
That's the way it is in radio now. The listeners don't matter.

In a big city like Chicago, listeners in B-96 target demo of teens, and women up to 34, most tune to a music station for Music in the morning,, maybe a few jokes, some minimal news and weather,,, otherwise they would just listen to a talk radio station, there are plenty in Chicago as you know... And if they were at home listening, they would just tune in a newscast. These shock jocks that play two songs an hour and have a huge paycheck and ego are becoming extinct.... Im not saying Ed and Jobo where Shock Jocks like Stern or anything, but they werent as family friendly as J-Nice and Julian... Eddie and Jobo used to get in trouble all the time for saying things that listeners and adverts found unfit....... Just shut up and play the hits,,, be friendly and funny, but remember to talk about relevant things in the area and the demo, and dont drag on forever without playing some hits, no one cares to hear a jock dwell on his 2 week vacation to hawaii, or anything about personal life...Really....

I am a fan of Eddie and Jobo,, but they had their time, they made their money, and most of the morning listeners where not in the demo,, they are leftovers from the 80s and 90s, and didnt listen to B-96 outside morning drive...

To each is own. Music in the morning is fine, but I want to be entertained also.
You may not miss Eddie & Jobo, but others do. Meanwhile I'll tune elsewhere for my morning laughs.

My friends in Chicago say it sounds like 21 year-olds playing songs for 12 year-olds. That's impressive...a Disney radio hip hop station..

Julian is hillarious, hes a great talent. J-Nice.. not feelin em. Sorry! He "got lucky" to make it to mornings in market 3.

Drex is established, and he gets right to the point in the AM with the morning topic, his show is good! I remember when Feder made fun of him. Amazingly, hes strong in the market now. Who woulda ever thought!

Put enough lousy stuff on the air, someone else is bound to sound good.

Give J nice a chance,, He's still young and green,, he has great potential and compliments julian well... Jerzy is another young guy at the B that I like very much.. Its supposed to be a youth station,, so why not have fresh young talent,, they are all much younger than me... I think Alex Peace is the oldest at B-96...

They're gonna get their chance. Clearly B96 ratings have been slipping in recent years and they needed to try something different.
We will see what happens over time.

Ha! Ha! That's a great quote!.....But is so true.

Chicago really needs a true hitradio. B-96 & KISS-FM are Top-40 hybrids and bad ones at that.

I don't know if any of you remember WLOL in the Twin Cities back in the late eighties,
but that's how a good Top-40 sounds in my opinion. Lots of hits, jingles and tight playlists.
If any of you want a sample demo from the late eighties hit stations, I have the worlds
greatest collection.

Word!,

I have to disagree with you on Drex. His show is ever tirelessly talking about sex and doin it, doin that, or doin someone. After awhile it gets old and sounds like kids before they reached puberty. Sure sometimes they are funny and you want to listen to that, but sometimes I would think to myself, have anything else to talk about? The lotion hour is a good concept but at times it sounds like that is all the show was.

I am sure if I tune in Tuesday after not listening to Drex in a while, I will hear the same thing.

But I agree with everyone else. Julian is funny and talented, but if you really hear at times J-Niice, he can be quietly just as hilarious in his own right. And they give a great break between the fun, music, and entertainment news.
