B 98.5 weekend jocks

where does press communications find their air talent, or lack thereof... this guy who's on now is terrible. a wanna-be guido accent, nasal, struggling to read the copy in front of him and refers to adam lambert as adam lambord??? he's giving away disco ball 2012 tickets with such little enthusiasm.

and people wonder why their rating suck....

In an area where "Hot AC" stations sound more and more like Top 40 every day, and in a market where the target audience (very young people) are in the minority, it makes absolutely no sense to continue with this format which is a proven loser. We have plenty of stations in market and out that are essentially doing the same thing and getting far superior ratings. I just don't understand the reluctance of Press to arrive at the realization that this station is going nowhere and simply throw in the towel (ditto for Greater Media and Magic 100.1). The son of one of the owners was programming it the last time I checked, but I honestly don't think anyone could turn this station into something that people would want to listen to. Just drop it and go News/Talk, and watch the ratings increase exponentially.

News/Talk? FM News ain't doing so well.
How about a Dance CHR instead?

98.5 should sound like THIS! (or simply take that Saturday Night clubhouse and make it 24/7)

it's not so much the music... oh, ok it is... but the air talent on 98.5 is lousy. it's like they're picking air-talent for the radio version of jersey shore.

Same issue with standard CHR. They would certainly have less competition, but this area just doesn't have enough of the young audience (35 and under) that comprises almost the entire audience for the format.

When I said that this area needed a News/Talk format, I didn't mean one like 101.9 FM News. Rather, I meant a station with top-of-the-hour news breaks and a combination of local and syndicated talk shows the rest of the time. Something like an FM version of WOND. It would reach a more diverse audience and easily pull the strongest ratings that any Ocean County signal could hope to pull in the market. Of course, it would be more expensive to run than a music-based format, which explains the reluctance of local broadcasters to embrace it. But in this age where there are countless music options out there, the listeners want something different, and a station providing the area with substantive talk programming would fill a huge void in the area.

There's a few that are cool.  8)

;D ...that is all I have to say.

Press as of late has had a issue with PT jock turnover. Apparently even being in that building over the weekend is as bad as being there during the week!
