B TEAMERS STORIES!!

Lets all share...

I had a couple of B TEAMERS one time at an interview ask me what I thought was the least covered aspect of radio.(They were acting like I was interviewing for Z100 in NYC, but it was for some green sounding piece of crap, and I was desperate for a job at the time.) Anyway, I said IMAGING. I told him I thought it was/is one of the least covered parts of radio today and that people just do dumb basic imaging and it sounds bad. He told me that answer was ridiculous.

Again, B TEAMERS will always play with B TEAMERS because they're ego's are very delicate. B TEAMERS!!

Kramer(And yeah - I sign my name to this. B teamer.)

OTOH, don't you think stations can go overboard? Sometimes a dry-liner in-between songs sounds a lot better than one buried under needless zips, zaps, and explosions.
______________
There's nothing else to see here.

Tell that to wflz.

Good imaging is more than zaps and zings.

That's my point.

Saying - (BZZT) 100.3 (BZZT) The XXXXXXX

Does that cut through clutter?

No. Sorry.

Know what I Hate!

Liners that say nothing.

Wav files from movies that sound distorted and crappy that are stuck on a drop to make it cute.

DISTORTED WAV FILES! ON DROPS! RAD ARE YOU LISTENING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
at least pull a wav file that sounds "clean"

Don't be a B-Team Player... You can produce clean drops! It is possible.

Since we are all sharing...

Sorry you didn't get a second interview. Gee, didn't know that that had been building up in you for a YEAR. Next time try to dress and act like you are interviewing for a management job- that was what you were interviewing for, wasn't it? Sorry that RP was acting like you were interviewing for Z100 in NY...maybe it's because he used to work there and holds people to a little higher standard than you were used to. I don't care if you call us B-Teamers or not. I know what kind of operation I run and will stand behind my people anyday- Something that you will never experience. Go back to doing whatever it is you do these days. Or come up with some other little nasty post to mask your inability to get a job done.

>Thanks for listening Skip. Remember to write down Alice 96.1 or WQKS if you get an Arbitron. I know that you will be tempted to write "Montgomery's Best Sounding Rock Station" but I don't think that we have registerd that name with Arbitron. Once again, thanks for listening. To pick up your prize, you must come by the station between 8am and 5 pm Monday through Friday.

Okay, so attacking me in e mail to friends is profesional?

Let me say this, if I was a General Manager of a radio station, the last thing I'd be doing is going on message boards trying to insult someone you didn't think was qualified to work for your company, man.

In modern radio, you don't walk around in a suit and tie. You wear what's comfortable so that you can get your job done. It isn't TV.

You know what - I apologize for calling you B TEAMERS. I think now days if you are passionate about what you do, do it. If you and your staff are getting something out of what you are producing, that's all you could ask for. I'm a jock - and a talented one and I think there's more to programming than keeping the license. If you are going to be truly creative, you have to preach more than that, and if you want to inspire creativity - you need another mantra to go by.

I have friends all over the Country that are beaten down by this business. The least management can do is give us break about what we wear. The creativity of radio has been sucked through the proverbial radio vaccum. Its sad really. I am sticking by it - through the good and the bad, as I always have.

Question: Highly experienced motivated major market talent who gets it OR a sharp dressed yes man?? If you say the 2nd, you're a B TEAMER.

That is all.

And thank you.

Really.

your mama so ugly that she had to drink large quantities of alcohol ( because of her low self esteem) and get drunk to to get the dog to come over the fence ( that separated her home from her neighbors) and have physical relations with her.

This is the most redicious post i've ever seen.

Im surprised i haven't deleted it, after reading your post i'd have to say you most likely fit in with who you call "B-TEAMERS." All I see is a self serving egotisical post.

As for what your answer was to the least covered parts of radio today, it's not imaging, its BRANDING, without branding you have nothing to "image."

1st - how was it egotistical? I was just giving an opinion. From a creative standpoint, imaging ISSSSSSSSSSSSs one of the least looked after aspects of radio - IN MY OPINION.

Second - why would you delete my post? You know, people that moderate boards think they know everything and need control over something. They are opinions. Don't delete posts because you don't agree. THAT my friend is 'ridcurous' or ever how you spelled it.

Thank you.

Let's break this down,

1st - how was it egotistical?

"I had a couple of B TEAMERS one time at an interview ask me what I thought was the least covered aspect of radio.

First off, by calling someone a "B TEAMER," you make it sound as if you are too good to talk to people whom you believe lack talent/ability, etc. To me and probably everyone else on this board I believe you yourself are the one with the ego, and are the type of person who feels they already know everything about radio. This business is always about learning and that never stops.

"They were acting like I was interviewing for Z100 in NYC, but it was for some green sounding piece of crap, and I was desperate for a job at the time."

Desperate or not, you decided to apply for the job. You should have been gracious that someone gave you an opportunity to interview for a gig. The mentality you have, is probably the reason why you are "on the beach." Z100 or not, you are NEVER to good for any job.

Second - why would you delete my post?

It's Self-serving, post something with actual content for discussion, posts like this only make people want to flame you. Not to mention I’ve received several emails asking this post to be deleted.

Those remain anonymous - here are their comments.

You sir, are ignorant. Ask anyone on the Alabama board how many times I’ve deleted posts. It rarely happens. I moderate when needed.

"THAT my friend is 'ridcurous' or
ever how you spelled it."

Sorry, for future reference I will refer to spell check as to not offend someone of such high educational stature. I did not major in English while at college.

I am Scotty K and I approved this spell checked message.

I don't think I know everything there is to know about radio, Scotty. You made a great point about people need to always learn. I agree with you there. So many people think they have it conquered. You can never conquer creativity - its always evolving, as is the business of radio.

The B TEAMERS stuff was to get a topic going, which it did. I didn't personally attack anyone. (ANYONE!) I wouldn't write names here, but we have all had our fair share B TEAMER STORIES!

As a personal message to you Scotty - walk down your hall and look behind the engineering door. There you will find my name signed when I got fired at WZYP in Athens, AL. When I left, I was on my way out the door and everyone grabbed me and said 'welcome to the club' - so I signed it as many many many people did. When I walked out that door I had a job at WFLZ in Tampa. I respect ALL ON AIR PEOPLE. I know how tough this damn business IS! I embrace you, and everyone else that gets up everyday to talk about, do, and adore radio.

If someone was truly offended by the words that I've written here, you are in the wrong business and are VERY SOFT! I think I have been pretty nice. Saying that I am not is 'redicuriousnesstt' - now have a sense of humor about yourself, because one day you may have to sign that door. Scotty.
