Most listeners in Rhode Island whose favorite music station is 103.3 WODS probably don't care about B101's ratings. However it's hard to believe they get the ratings they do. The midday DJ is as boring as the music played all the time on the station. Repetitive classic hits, mostly rock hits, and the occasional soul or disco song. 103.3 WODS has much better production and music variety plus mostly in-studio DJs. The music is a great mix of late 60's to early 80's rock hits, pop, disco, and soul. Now with Christmas music on 103.3 WODS and listeners like me who won't listen to weeks of Christmas music, we look for another station with the closest format. Since only northwest RI can get 98.9 WORC and only southern RI can get 100.9 WKNL, the Providence area listeners are stuck with B101. I thought B101 would take advantage of those 103.3 WODS listeners looking for another station during the Christmas format, and widen its variety of music, but how could they do it, with that crappy voice tracked or syndicated programming they have? Did anyone think, with better DJs and variety on B101, those WODS listeners may stay with B101 after the Christmas season? I am glad I also like the local talk on 630 WPRO, and also the news on 1030 WBZ. On FM my favorite station is 103.3 WODS, but when they go Christmas I tune into almost any station except the ones that are modern rock or all Christmas. I rarely listen to B101.
