Re: B92.9 - u gotta read this one...
The B92.9 Smoking gun...or a technicalily that mediabase is on as well...
."more incriminating then the new "102-7 XYV" mic flags on the floor in the engineering room at the infinity Baltimore studios...on the day before the format flip of urban V103 to top 40...."
Don't believe? Ok... JJ knows radio...so here goes..
everybody type in
www.yes.com
ok good!
now in the upper left put in your 92.9's "now positioned as of 12/26/05" Today's Hits and Yesterday's favorites...favorite call letters...
WLTJ (remember the tv spot, the cartoon about the window cleaner with the wltj in paint-script...)
WELL...
put those into the call letter window at the top left of the yes.com screen....
WAIT??? THEY DON'T WORK? it worked a week ago!
you might be quickly thinking that because they are a soft adult contemporary they might not be monitored by mediabase... nice guess but no. It works for WSHH, WAMO, and the new rock fav WRKZ...(yes...it is..ask around town...) all their call letters work!
now try WBZB and turn on or stream the station live to verify this theory...and u tell me...
Let's reflect on some format flips and their occurence around this quarter...remember when 104.7 went talk, for a couple of days before (Jan the station voice changed (but the music stayed the same - like in this scenario) and the station only aired the call letters until BAM...FM NEWS Talk....
In Dec 1992 (13 years ago, the 31st of Dec to be exact) staffers of then (the great Mix Jamz 100.7 (wmxp) with Jay Stevens in Mornings, Jammin John Anthony in PM Drive and yeidy-yiedy DC "guess what's down my pants" Taylor at night. in Millvale High atop the lincoln lunchcounter all gathered round a mic to say goodbye and a silent hello to K-Garth (thank you then EZ Communications for that one..note my sarcasm)...
a month later WAMO aired drops..sayin' (somethin line...mix jamz had to go...now let's spank the B in '93..hot 106 JAMZ (imaging by Pat Garrett). WAMO quickly picked up where Mix Jamz left of (literally... picking up the 'Jamz' monkier so no other station in the market could use it ... until jettisoning it in 2004 to put the 106-7 frequeny on the forefront of the call letter positoning..(in an effort to help you the consumer under stand that 106-7 was for tha hip hop and 107-1 was for where you should be now if you liked what the Beat played...(and the Tom Joyner show too - first time on FM in Western PA...woo hoo...no sky show still? damn!). Although in a period in 1995 HOt 106 didn't say jamz until the hot boys night show came on at 7pm.
(Bad Boys (version 1)alum dj boogie still does PM drive at the station )
remember...this is just a THeory....
unless...
yes.. naaaaaah!
