I think it would be wise for CC to try a format not available in the Sacramento Region like Alternative Rock (recently abandoned by KWOD-106.5) or AAA. KSEG- 96.9 The Eagle has been in Sacramento since 1990 and is well established and well run by Entercom. If 93.1 went Classic Rock, They would simply split up the audience while with Alternative, they would have the audience all to themselves.kenrayc said:what about 93.1 I think maybe it could be CLASSIC ROCK like 103.7 in SF.

I'm surprised that CC is moving B93 (KOSO) prior to the end of the book, June 24th. The potential loss of revenue from the havoc the change could cause the book could be huge. I don't see how getting the Sac signal on three weeks earlier would make up for that....unless CC want's to get on the air to fill a new format void before someone else does?RadioStarOne said:If this new station at 93.1 has been built and June Ist is just five days away, how is it that not one person knows what the new format is going to be? Interesting!!! Talk about your squeeky tight lips! Amazing!
Great observation. I wonder with Oldies and Jack covered why they are trying a classic hits suggestion as a ruse...Michael Rivers Kramer said:The front page of the Radioinsight board has 93.1 as KCLX-FM Classic 93.1...with a logo.

No FCC request for the calls yet.
Actually it is possible to have 2 radio stations (1 AM and 1 FM) in 2 different markets with 2 different owners. Case in point: There is a KKXX at 930 AM in the Chico area which is a Christian Talk Station plus there is a KKXX at 93.1 FM in the Bakersfield area which has a Adult Hits format. So there is that possibility that 93.1 will pick up the KCLX calls. But what makes you think that it will be a Classic Rock or Classic Hits format, just because it is called "Classic 93.1"? It could very well be a Classic Alternative or Classic Country? Who knows? Maybe even a Classic Hip-Hop?Big D said:Michael Rivers Kramer said:The front page of the Radioinsight board has 93.1 as KCLX-FM Classic 93.1...with a logo.

These calls aren't even available. It's currently an AM station in Colfax, WA, not owned by CC. With Jack, the Eagle and even K-Hits (on the same stick), it doesn't make sense to pursue a Classic Hits/Classic Rock format.

Madmansam said:That format I can dismiss almost immediately as Sacramento already has a Fulltime Commercial Free Classical Music Station KXPR-90.9 plus its numerous translators, unlike San Francisco in which KDFC is the only Classical Music Station. Clear Channel wouldn't waste its money on a Commercial Classical Music Station when most Classical Music Lovers would rather listen to their Classical Favorites with No Commercial Interruptions. Also to my knowlege, CC doesn't operate any Fulltime Commercial Classical Music stations in the U.S., not counting their HD-2 stations like KJSN-102.3, but then again Modesto doesn't have any Fulltime Classical Music Stations and unless someone has an HD Radio, They Still don't.
