The MD before Erik Bradley was Todd Cavanah, who is the PD now.
In terms of WGCI, if you remember (I don't know how old you are) GCI used to be one of the big dance mix stations till about 1989.
They then cut the hours of their dance/house mixes between 1989 and 1991. I guess they figured it was time was hip-hop to have more of an outlet in Chicago.
Then in late 1991, Elroy Smith took over as PD of WGCI and virtually got rid of most the House Mixes on the station with the exception of one hour. I think the only reason why he was even rotating as much House Music as he was during the day was because the listeners were requesting it because of B96. Elroy was never a big supporter of House Music, for one reason or another. I think he is one of those programmers than doesn't like to crossover very often. I have heard that they have had to explain to Elroy how big House Music was on GCI during the 80's. I really don't think Elroy cared, as long as he was still getting overall ratings for the station.
When Elroy finally caved in and gave five hours back to House Music again, it was a great thing. CLUB 1075 was the number dance show in its time slot (without the station running promos for it). I think that was done on purpose by Elroy so the show wouldn't do well. So, all in all, the show was canceled (even though it was doing very well. As long as Elroy is there, there probably won't be a SERIOUS house show on GCI unless he caves into pressure.
Q-101, I think they cancelled "Sonic Boom" because they got a new PD, once again, A PD making bad decisions for the market but doesn't care. I want to say "Sonic Boom" was probably doing better than the rest of the station overall.

Big City was a public corporation, so it had many many owners.

In any case, as one who saw "the book" on Energy, it was obvious that what killed it was the lack of profitability and the inability, therefore, of the owner to make debt service.

You're a liar. Plain and simple. You are a liar. I HAVE THE SEEN THE NUMBERS AS WELL. In fact, I WAS A SHAREHOLDER as were others in my circle, in fact, I'm very close to a group of people who were looking over the financials to make a detemination as to whether Big City was worth saving.

Do you just make up things as you go along or do you interpret things to satisfy YOUR DESIRES? Your statement is a FLAT OUT LIE or MISINTERPRETATION. You really need to stop trying to impress little boys and people who don't know any better. I don't care who you are, you're WRONG, you give INCORRECT ANALYSIS and eithe MAKE IT UP AS YOU GO ALONG or simply spin it to prove YOUR POINT, the way YOU WANT IT TO BE SEEN. You disgust me when you do this.

If you actually have a job - DO IT, stop trolling the boards looking for little boys and girls who don't know any better, stop filling people's heads with the little knowledge you seem to comibine with fantasy to manipulate the minds of those who don't know any better.

You've been called out. Now back to the only response you're worthy of...

Thanks David.

Shareholders in a broadly held public do not get by-station numbers ever. In fact, generally all they get are consolidated numbers.

Unless you were a qualified buyer, you did not get The Book on the company or the individual stations. I doubt you did due diligence... we did. We actually bought 4 of the stations (including one in Chicago), and bid on 3 more of them.

The financials for Energy as an indivudual profit center did not lie. You are attempting to make it seem that an unprofitable station in an unprofitaable company was something other than what it was. It was not making enough money to cover its costs.

Good. You are definitely disgusting.

De nada. El gusto es tuyo.

ACTUALLY HIP,HOP IS A CURRENT FAD AND OWES MUCH IT'S SUCCESS TO THE MAINSTREAM WHITE SUBURBAN AUDIENCE IT CURRENTLY ATTRACTS.
AS WITH ALL GENRES IT TOO WILL EVENTUALLY BECOME LESS POPULAR.

I CAN PRESENT YOU QUITE A LONG LIST OF DANCE HITS. IF YOU TUNE INTO XM'S BPM AT THE MOMENT YOU WILL HEAR THEM COUNTED DOWN.
IN ADDITION, MADONNA'S SINGLE, AT THE TOP OF THE CHARTS, IS A DANCE HIT.

NO ONE DISPUTES HIP, HOP'S POPULARITY OVER DANCE IN THE US. BUT TO SAY THERE ARE NO DANCE HITS IS NOT TRUE.

Thanks David, do you ever tell me anything I don't know. Oh, wait, the made up garbage. You're pathetic. Someone has to call you to the rug, your ability to mix half truths with possible scenarios as fact are just wrong and it's scary because people who don't know any better might actually believe half the crap you spin, you should be in politics, you're a master at creating illusions.

The people I'm associated with are very "qualified" buyers, in fact they're publicly traded too David, imagine that David. If you bought stations then you're just delibertly lying about things or twisting and distorting them to prove your points, advance your agenda. SICKENING.

David, if you knew who I really was you'd go bury your head in a toilet son.

Based on your recent comments about reggaeton crossing over, I really doubt you are anyone important in the business. You may work for a company that onws stations, but you could not possibly have had access to the data you claim to, since the real data is in conflict with your attempt, again, to make dance or Energy into a viable format or station.

I'm not your "son," either. Although it occurs to me I could use the word in a sentence. But that would be rude, and you have a virtual monopoly on rudeness, SCREAMING, calling people liars and never presenting a single fact.

I post who I am. It's obvious you are unable to do the same, perhaps because it would be irrelevant.

Actually, the correct term is "ployglot." And Spanish is my first langauge, anyway.

If you want to nitpick, then isn't it "polyglot?" (Poly = many)

And a happy new year to all.

People aren't moving on from hip hop. That has nothing to do with the fact that B is being pummeled and is currently panicking and making stupid decisions.

If you want proof that hip hop isn't going anywhere, turn on MTV. Or better yet, look at GCI's #s.
