At Midnight last night, the satellite signal carrying the Delilah should have been taken off, and the computer carrying B98.5's normal programming should have taken over.
Last night, only one of those two things happened. The computer did kick in with the station's normal AC playlist. But the satellite did not go down. What I heard was Bob and Tom over Kelly Clarkson's "Since U Been Gone". Both the music and the satellite were at full levels, which made for an exiting mix (although the voices of Bob and Tom ruined a perfectly good song).
The Bob and Tom show must be carried on the same satellite transponder that Delilah is on. Also, B98.5 must be running Delilah (at least the later hours) fully automated, as this would not have happened if someone was at the board monitoring things.
I have heard this a couple of times earlier where the satellite did no go down on time, and B98.5's local computer mixed in with whatever was on the satellite.
Which brings me to the next topic. Larry "Nighttrain" Lane is B98.5's overnight DJ (and has held that slot, I believe since about 1987). Over the past few weeks, I have only heard him about once or twice a week. Sometimes, he is there at midnight, others about 1 AM, and mostly not at all. His bio is still up, and I hear him doing recorded PSA's during the overnight timeslot (I belive Mr. Lane is B98.5's Community Affairs Coordinator). His bio is still up on the B98.5 website, so he has not been fired. I wonder what is up with him not being there.
