Back to the old ways...July Ratings

I don't think anyone can honestly make their mind up on why Power is not beating the hell out of Q.  Is it not leaning Rhythmic enough?  Small playlist?  Limited local programming?  Is it The Bert Show's fault?  Is Star stealing listeners?  I'm keeping the tally on all the excuses.

I don't know. All I can say is WiLD got better ratings on 105.7 than Power has now.
Here's a wild idea, but... I can only assume that if Power went the route WiLD did both times they achieved their highest ratings, then Power would probably do AT LEAST as well as WiLD was doing when WiLD was at their highest ratings.

Just a thought.

Huh, Project had around a 3.0 6+ when they were around.

By my earlier comment, I meant Rock 100.5's ratings are only slightly better today than what they earned when Project 9-6-1 was still around. Rock 100.5 seemed to hover in the 1.3 - 2.0 range quite often.

I agree that a 3.0 is a good estimate of Project's average AQH share in 6+ during its last couple years on the air. Project's numbers were closer to a 3.5 right when the plug was pulled.

I completely agree that Rock 100.5 needs to go full throttle Active Rock (now that Radio 105.7 has claimed the Modern Rock position). Cumulus waited too long to make serious programming changes @ 100.5 FM, and once they pulled the trigger, the changes they made weren't aggressive enough.

Cume-u-Less seems to be repeating the same mistakes of 96Rock during the late 90's / early 00's.

Rock 100.5 has pretty good imaging. I'm going to give them that AND ONLY THAT.

When Rock 100.5 first merged with The Bone, most of the comments centered around The Regular Guys but they liked the bigger stick for modern hard rock (big compared to The Bone).

Now, very little mention is made to the format and by in large, the only comments i see are from big TRG fans. Correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't TRG met it's demise?

Rock 100.5 should go straight active rock but I will be honest, most Cumulus stations are mainstream and not active rock. I'm not suggesting they don't exist but Cumulus likes to push the mainstream rock stations more than active rock. Rock 100.5 is reporting is AOR (have no clue why) but I believe they are mainstream.

It's not rocket science folks. Locals want local radio. For the majority, Power 96.1 does not supply that, unfortunately. Mornings especially. Don't know if they ever will. That's why they aren't or will NEVER will "beat the hell out of Q."
Only time will tell but if I was the PD, I would be doing something some dramatic changes. I guess he is not aware.

I really enjoyed their early imaging. "We may not have a big stick, but we know how to use what we've got!" among others.

Looks like things are back to the way they use to be....V-103 back on top, followed by Kiss, what happened to Magic 107.5?
Seems like the urban war has cooled down so far now that personalities at V-103, Kiss 104 and Majic 107.5 have settled in their time slots after the shuffle. On a side eye, when was the last time Hot 97.5-turned-107.9 ranked in the Top 5 overall?

It's the same format - Arbitron calls it "Rock", Mediabase calls it "Mainstream Rock", and I think Billboard calls it "Heritage Rock" (not sure about that, but I've definitely heard people use that term)

All those terms refer to the Classic/Active hybrid format that 100.5 has - it can work well in small markets where there is no Classic Rock/Hits station, so people listen by default - doesn't make any sense to me that it would work in a large market, since Classic Rock fans have the River to listen to
