I'll bite. Guess this is what you do when you've no money to play with in the promotional arena.

This morning instead of the kmx morning show with Trent and Stephanie they were playing what sounded like yesterdays afternoon show with Bryan (recorded) and this afternoon they were playing yesterdays morning show (recorded); giving afternoon times in the am and morning times in the pm.

I understand that they were trying to generate talk but I don't think it'll generate what they want. What do you guys think (yawn)?

Look, I'm very aware of where we are. I too think free speech is a great and wonderful thing. I don't think my reply was that far off the mark, Stew LIED, plain and simple. We where LIVE all day and evening. I'm pretty sure boards like this where created for an exchange of ideas, and a way to communicate with other Radio Folk.

I don't think SLANDER of a Station, Group or Personality was the intended function of this board. With this said, here is a CRAZY idea…why don’t we use this forum to discuss IDEAS…

We are in the greatest of all the media estates, I love this business, and I love where I am, I only wish those who feel anger, and the need to lash out, would take the trash somewhere else.

I guess I too missed the point of the prank, oh wait a minute I would have to listen to kmx.

ImTrent-as a marketing and promotions person if it has to be explained then something backfired! So Stew was right. Stew has said nothing slanderous about your "wondeful" station. Yes these boards were created for the purpose to explain ideas and thoughts, but also as a way to vent and gossip.
 
Trent was right, though I caught the overall gag, I was fooled 'cause I thought it was recorded for two reasons. First the times, shows et al that they did a good job of carrying off well, props to a good job of it. Second because the volume levels seemed to be lower than they should be but when I checked them today it was still low which is due to poor transmission which isn't any fault of the kmx on air crew.

Duncan, I am not your friend as far as I know but I am glad to bring you some amusement to your day. Do I pick? Yes, I do when there is in my small mind reason to do so. Denigration is not part of the intent or it would be VERY obvious. Truth is truth, hard to take sometimes but it is truth.

And yes Trent I was wrong but I did not lie, I posted what my opinion was. I do not lie and when wrong always have and always will admit it. I also do not slander, once again, truth is not slander.

OK, I might have taken the posting personal. When I read "(recorded)" I took it as a "LIE" for the shear fact that it is just that, a lie. We where live, and I'm very proud of the gang for pulling of the prank. As lame as it seemed to some, our listeners (all 7) seemed to enjoy it.

I do THANK YOU for the kind words in your last posting, I hope we can put this behind us and become friends. Would you like a KMX T-shirt? I will leave one downstairs, in your name. Also, I'm still new around here, how long will the change in season affect the sticks and transmitters?

ImTrent, you seem like a reasonably intelligent programmer (we’ve met). Most of the changes you've made since arriving are sound. BUT-
Okkkkkkkk. So, you were live, but just sounded screwed up all day? What was the payoff for the listener for putting up with being punked? Sounds like, IMHO*, you just annoyed your P1’s, and sent your (p-o’d) P2’s and P3’s somewhere else.

The guys across town are already promoting, giving away money, making listeners an integral PART of their shows, while you’re punking (not pranking) yours. I don’t want to put words in Stewys mouth, (God only knows where its been, LOL) but perhaps he was thinking: “That’s always a good way to start the ratings: send your listeners elsewhere..when elsewhere is offering them more.” Again, just an opinion. Now, would someone kindly put me out of my misery. I just agreed with Stewy for a second time. Ack!

(*and, the overwhelming consensus of those who spoke to me about it.)

i am calling you friend because everyone is my friend unless i have met you and dislike you.

you digging at one station and one 'caster ad nauseum gives a very bad impression of you and your professionalism.

a comment here or there, maybe a report on a mistake once a week, but you dig almost daily. it is already very old and tiring.

whether you know me or not, you are my friend until you prove it otherwise.
 
I don't post very often I just read and take it all in, but this one I have to voice my opinion, and that's all it is my opinion. I do have to agree with stewy about the prank not being the best way to start the book especially since the morning show at KMX is new. Not a very good first impression. If I had to guess I would almost bet this was the brainchild of Trent. I had hoped the new co-host would have helped get the show back on track but I have been let down once again. I now scan through my stations while in my car where as before I always listened to KMX. Trent is Dry, and very creative, and the new girl can't seem to find anything to discuss but her husband....which I am sure we all know by now is a captain in the Army....She would be better just to be herself, who ever that is, and go with the flow instead of trying so hard. She has some HUGE shoes to fill and does not need to alienate the listeners right from the start.
 
If you are refering to The Princess then you couldn't have listened...all she talked about was bobblehead and her dogs accidents. So if you are talking about BIG shoes then you are going back awhile!

There are a lot of people that would rather hear about bobblehead and doggy accidents than the ka-ka that is airing on kmx now (kmx ka-ka in the morning==would make a great new name for that morning show). People loves the Princess (even the people that love to hate her)....even after two months, the talk on the street is that people want the Princess back! Fact is fact...it is so sad that it went from the trainwreck to the titantic :'(

Again, I find your post really, really funny!!!! The thing is, I too miss My Princess, she moved on. I have nothing but LOVE for her, Bobbelhead and the wonderful kids they created. We revamped the show, and from the phone calls and emails I do think the show is rolling along well. I guess my question, if you hate it so much, why do you listen? why must you take every chance you have to post such negitive crap?

We do know who you are, and as you wonder WHY you don't have a position with us anymore... the answer is clear as the hate that comes out of your keyboard. I hope you find some kind of love in this cold, cold world we live in. I am sorry you are so angery.

We have not met, and it's not anger, it's aggravation and disappointment that what once was a very entertaining station has come to this. Like Drive, I was once a huge listener of kmx, but now, like Drive, it's a constant scanning of the radio. You may want to take the hints that are posted and just back up and dwell upon your decisions before you end up having to do all the shifts yourself.
The people you work with have been wonderful personalities, but for the past few months, they sound like they are being held back. Like many others, I don't want to see the downfall of a local station.

It's so interesting to read comments from "unknown" former Magic or otherwise radio people.
Let's hear your airshift. Let's see your sales numbers. Oh, you have none? I wonder why.

At some point, your bitterness will kill you. Been there. Know all about it. I let it go.

If you don't like Magic, it's employees, it's programming, it's.......whatever, "man up", get yourself
an airshift or a sales position and compete. Trent didn't invent KMX, he did however inherit a
station that needed a solid leader. He is one. As for the April Fool's prank, you guys have no
idea how many listeners tuned in, how they reacted, how many of their friends they might have
told. I think that was the point. Trent's not programming for other radio people. Time will tell and
so will the numbers. I'm sure he's satisfied with that. His KMX team seems to appreciate his work
ethic, his patience, his willingness to do any job and his knowledge of the format. Trent's team
seems very happy.

Magic's not perfect, but I listen to stations in this market daily and hear clumsy mistakes that never
seem to make it on this board. I took a pounding for joining this "disfunctional" team several months
ago. I still have no regrets. Many wagers were made as to my length of stay. None have paid up.
I like underdogs, which is what you guys are trying to make us out to be. We're not.

We all understand that we've got a lot of work to do, but who doesn't ? We'll get the job done and
face the numbers when the time comes. In the meantime, Stewy will keep the lyrics coming, bashing
and hating will continue and Dothan will look like the creepiest market in the state on this board.

In the words of Michael Scott from NBC's The Office, paraphrasing, "We're not disgruntled, our people
are gruntled and doing just fine." Let's lighten up. If you can make a change, do it. If not, it's all a
bunch of blah, blah, blah. Form a private club and have at it.

Once again, how's your airshift, your sales numbers? We'll worry about ours.
