It's always fun to talk about radio! Once you get it in your "blood," there is no turning back.

Dave:
I remember you too...when you were on the air at the ORIGINAL WLHN in Anderson before that call got transplanted to Elwood and now Muncie. I met you at WZZY when it was still WIUC where State Route 502 in Ohio becomes a narrow county road called Greenville Pike. Glad to see you still in the biz. Been out of it for many years but I do some occasional liners here and there while working a regular job to feed and house my family.

Speaking of liners..wasn't that Gary Gears doing the "all gold" legal ID for WLHN in Anderson and also for 990 WERK? (re:" W E R K..Muncie.......write it down!" for a local contest promotion in the summer of 1974)

Wow...those were the days! I hear that the former WIUC studios are now a FRIED CHICKEN place! You can pick up your "to go" orders from what used to be the studio window! Hahaha!

Yeah, radio is lots of fun, although I must admit that getting up at 3 a.m. is NOT on my list of fun priorities. But you do what you gotta do. Thanks for feedback....drop me and private note if you like and we can chat. [email protected]

Oh...that's right! Gary Gears it was! I always felt like I needed a testosterone shot after hearing his voice and having to follow up with my voice! LOL!

Did they hire anyone to be the new PD at WERK? Did Leland Franklin take over officially in that capacity? I hear him on WERK in the afternoons now... probably beats the paint store I suppose.

Been thinking about BYB's Muncie cluster lately... seems to me they ought to position themselves to take advantage of the last two "Serviceable" formats and do talk on a few of their FMs.

It I owned 'em, here's what I do. Keep 104.1 as it is. Split WERK's two frequencies. Keep 104.9 for that "new" oldies (70s/80s) format. Move WHBU to 101.7 FM and heavily promote it on FM. Use the old 1240 signal for a "real" oldies format (they could just sat-feed it all day), and give it the legacy of the old WERK calls... WERK-AM for real oldies and WERK-FM for "new" oldies. I'd do the same with MAX... keep classic rock on 96.7 but move ESPN to 93.5 and do more local sports talk there. I don't know what to do with 1340... maybe another talker -- maybe bold and daring with Air America? Or maybe a sat-feed of Music of your Life or Country or something... just seems to me they are wasting the assets talk provides by having them stuck on dreadful AM signals.. meanwhile real oldies on AM seems to be a hit elsewhere... they should spin the dice and get creative with it... but what I am talking about... this is corporate sellout Muncie radio I'm talking about...

I Never understood the reasoning between the 93.5/96.7 and 101.7/104.9 Simulcasts for other than to extend the east/west & North south Coverage of the simulcasts format. it isnt like you can here 93.5 and 104.9 over in Anderson and 96.7 and 101.7 over in Muncie. Id like the idea of splitting up the simulcasts for other formats. spliting the simulcasts could help bridge WLBC letting it go towards more of a CHR Signal and let one of the other 4 FM frequencys take the Hot AC End. and one of the other FM's could go Country since other than Hank and FMS the only Major Country channels available in Muncie/Anderson Market is WMDH

I think these are great ideas...Backyard should do it.

They should get the changes on deck for 1Q09 so they can end the current formats and the current calendar year at the same time with TWO SOLID MONTHS of XMAS!!! Ha ha ha (or is that ho ho ho)
