Bad Stations That Need To Go

What stations do you think that need to go? One of them I think is The Bone, why:

1. Bad Ratings
2. Terrible Programming
3. Crappy music

They can't make up their mind of what to play. First it's the current stuff, now they're focusing back on classic rock. Any thoughts??

1. 93.3 The Bone
2. 96.7 Platinum
3. 100.3 JACK FM
4. 101.1 Classical
5. 105.3 The Fan
6. 106.7 Casa
7. 107.5 MOViN

I like the music the Bone plays. I just wish they had more of a signal so I could listen to them in my car though.

105.3 the Fan needs to blow off the face of the Earth!

and let me guess...all of these stations need to be replaced with smooth jazz???

Anything playing country bumpkin music, Spanish language, "news" talk, or sports!

Woo-hoo! That gives me the chance to start the 24/7 polka station I've envisioned. :D

Get in line, buster, cause I have FIVE formats that I want to run in this market. ;D

laughing- so you'd get rid of Wolf, KSCS, WBAP, KLNO, KESS and KTCK. That's like 6 of the top 10 rated or top billing stations in the market. Obviously the public diagrees with you wholesale, which gives you little credibility as a serious commentator.

Or stations that are... MAD....lol

Don't mock it too bad. WELW-AM in Elyria, Ohio (Cleveland) play polkas during Afternoon drive! I interviewed the guy during our Rock Hall broadcast in 2003. He also is the founder of the Polka Hall of Fame there as well.

BGH

If there was one station that needs serious adjustment, it would be KDGE. Im an alt/college music junkie(late 80's-today), but this station has become a greatest hits station and its a total consistant bore. Id rather hear it replaced with more new alt music w/ a few 80's/90's tunes but more variety to the songs, not just Nirvana, NIN, Pearl Jam and RHCP being spun 12-15 times a day/min. In a way, id like to see the station mature into something that respects the "classics" but also strives harder to be on "the bleeding edge" of music.

Well first off you gotta have someone that knows radio AND IS STILL IN IT. The current folks calling the shots not behind the mic,do not qualify. Second you got to have talent. Imagine that? Only Hal Jay, Terry Dorsey, Chapman, and Bo Roberts are left but bounded by restrictions of the aforementioned group. The other quit having sales personnel program a station or cluster of stations, and quit spinning the numbers to show success, plus quit using numbers now to illuminate success, when yearly numbers show listeners are leaving radio. Actually care about the on air presentation and have some quality to it,not quantity. Allow each market to have their own station they can identify with not an homogenized assembly line of dullness. Eliminate 1-800 contest, and request lines and reinstate local numbers with real contests that relate locally. No more banking calls to be played two weeks later at most. Voice tracking should be kept to 30 and sixty second spots. Actually have news reported not what compliments a popular talk show host.Eliminate talk shows, and that will save insurance on high blood pressure medication for middle age white males.

If you can't do the above,,eliminate all the stations and as one said, reboot like its 1922.

Since we've changed the subject from stations that need to go and replaced it with stations that we'd create. I'd like to bring back the alternative talk format that Live 105.3 used to be.

That is fun radio whether you liked the station or not at least it was something new most everyday. Hell if it wasn't new hardly half the people on this forum would be out of ideas on what to talk about.

I'm not saying that I would bring Russ back, even though I did like listening to him. But I would like Jagger, K-Scott and Greg Hill give opinions on something besides if LeBron James will be making his way to the Mavs in 2010 for 3 straight days, BDH, and then have syndicated shows on over night.

Weekends would have Dan O'Malley I know that much.

Good ratings don't necessarily mean good stations. Why don't you add the ratings for iPods, satellite, and steaming into the
equation and see the steady decline of radio over the years. It is a trend that radio ignores at its peril - at some point the
majority of listening will be to stations and sources out of the market - if not already.
