Baisden Heads To WAZY

I M guessing that Basden guy is the on from 3 to 6. He is ok but not the best WAZUY music sounds good better they play more music that I remember then before. I heard DMB the other day and thats good so maybe they are going better. The wolf has the new luinch girl and Lia nightimes. Who is doing the good things for AMP now? Maybe they done so bad for long that the changes are good. I think Marcy or Logan should go back to WAZY

Check your "fomat history" books.

WXUS was already on to Classic Hits by the time Eurythmics were around in the mid-late 80's.
Bob missed jocking through all of that era of music.
Before Classic Hits they had made the switch from AOR (waaaaay back in the last days of FM radio having variety and meaning? US 93 with the big interstate logo?) and were playing Streisand, Kenny Rogers, etc.

If someone has a different recollection of the timeline who was in the area, correct me or back me up here.

Thanks.

PS And, no, I still don't think he would sound convincing or appropriate as an 80's jock or classic rock jock, both of which you now hear on "Super Hits".
Listen to Shine 99 for 15 minutes when one of their NPR/EZ Listening jocks back announce something to get a taste of what I mean by mismatching your jocks with your format.

Um, sorry to disagree Unplugged, but Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This came out in the spring of '83. Bob moved to 'XUS that same summer, and 'XUS had already made the switch to lighter rock to take on WAZY. I was there. I remember. I think its highly likely that Bob spun Eurhythmics at some point. ;D

Yeah, we'll just agree to disagree about that, Voice.

WXUS wasn't playing Eurythmics in 1983 and WAZY was, but if you were there at XUS, then I'm sure you'd have access to an old playlist/old aircheck and I wouldn't.

Eurythmics was not "light rock" in 1983, it was cutting edge/new wave and that would have been Top 40 territory for WAZY.
Eurythmics would not have found it's way onto WXUS' format of Neil Diamond, Barry Manilow, etc in 1983.

Somebody will have to chime in and back you up, bro. I'm not buying it for now. :-X

Whether you buy it or not, Vizza was at 'XUS from '83 to '88, and I know for a fact that Here Comes The Rain Again was played on that station.

And this is a silly argument to begin with....

"Silly" as opposed to grown men and women going to a website to talk about radio.

Good enough for me!

Even back then Bob would have sounded painfully out of place back-announcing WHATEVER Eurythmics song he was playing (or not playing)!

Thanks for the clarification and chiming in from everyone!

;)

Nope, never argued that point. XUS/KHY '83-'88.

and I know for a fact that Here Comes The Rain Again was played on that station.

Yup, eventually when it became Classic Hits and that song was not a new release.

I mentioned those off the top of my head because they actually had those artits' HEADS in the artwork of their logo.

As I said, I don't have access to any playlists from the XUS days to see how far off the mark they actually were. "We say we're THIS, but we're actually THIS on the air". Hmmm...alot of that still going on in this market.
And if anybody out there DOES still have some of those old playlists in storage, you are waaaaaay sad.

By the way, if someone can find that old WXUS logo that popped up after the excellent "interstate sign" logo of US-93, post it on here somewhere or at least give me the actual artists that they used to refresh my memory. That would be cool since we've ventured into that territory with "Vizza-gate" discussions.

:D

I don't know if he worked for Key's stations in London (near Corbin), but if he did, it's not necessarily a bad thing. 103.9 The Wolf isn't a bad station and I think they even beat out Corbin's "99.5 KD Country" fairly often in the county-by-county's down there. Unlike Key's history of neglect in Indiana and Illinois, they actually run their Kentucky properties fairly well.

I hate to break this to them, but calling the station exactly the same name it's been for the past 8 years (save for the couple years when they called themselves "Wolf Country" a few years ago) isn't name rebranding.

I'm also surprised with the press. It's not like they made any stellar changes with the programming or anything. Despite that, kudos for whoever is responsible for getting a lackluster country station in market 243 noticed in the trades. :)

"Artist Management" i.e. "currently unemployed"

"More Music Mornings" i.e. "Hello, we're automated and can't afford airstaff!"

Dana is working in Milwaukee and has some interesting stuff he's working with.

And they CAN afford an airstaff....just not keep one!

He works for pop artist Sally Anthony, no? Given the fact he's with her camp now, I wonder if that was in the works for some time.

That would certainly explain why an artist who peaked at #36 or 37 on the CHR/pop charts earlier this summer was getting the most spins on Z for a solid month.

the bnew station is staying z! they have new sings that say z965. have u heard.
