Word is from Leo Birmingham Parkway that Barry Scott's Sat and Sun shows have been pulled in favor of Christmas and Holiday music (also Elvis and Beatles shows). Perhaps a pre-emptive against Magic 106.7?

Well the Beatles show I can get on 104.9, just 1 hour later.

WZLX or XM (online streaming is fantastic)have great Beatles shows on Saturday morning. I can put an Elvis CD in for the rest, and I am not a sat night type of guy.

If WODS is trying to push me away they are doing a great job. Thier preset has already been replaced by WODS in my cars.

I'm surprised they still run an Elvis show considering that the oldies format plays so little of his music anymore. How relatable is he to an under-50 audience? I also never understood why they put a total nerd like Barry on Saturday nights. You'd think they'd want to create more of a "party" atmosphere, and he just doesn't cut it. Leave him on Sunday nites, but put someone a little more "fun" on Saturdays.

Whats this some sort of mind game???

I love being a nerd. That's what listeners want. Someone more average like them to party with...Besides, the emphasis on the Oldies 103.3 Saturday Night Party is on the disco/dance music.

Things to be thankful for this December: Both shows are #1 in their target audience, "The Lost 45s" with an amazing 10.9 share in adults, 25-64!

It's all about the listener, remember. 'Playing what we want' is just plain dumb!

Thanks for thinking of me on the Boston Radio Board.

Have a very happy holiday season!

Barry, did they (Magic) at least give you the option of staying on and playing older Christmas songs thru the end of the month?

Um. I work for Oldies 103.3, not the 'they' you listed, lol. Thought it best to take time off. Have worked virtually every weekend in Boston since starting on commercial radio in 1986.

Then why the same 100 or so disco pop hits all the time? and just 7' versions?
To make SNDP a little more upbeat toss in some club hits. Add a 12" mix or two.
Add a surprsie or two.

Always griping. Can't someone be thankful on this board? lol.

Obviously you don't listen that intently. Club mixes and hits are spice elements of both shows. Who else would play Machine, Claudja Barry or T-Connection?

Try it out again in the new year: Saturday Night Party 8 to midnight and "The Lost 45s" from 7 to 11 on Oldies 103.3.

Always a pleasure to check in.

Barry,

I for one want to tell you that i have been listening since i was about 15 years old....back in 85...i once met you in the hallway at WZLX when i bombarded my way in there at the age of around 16 or so...took the bus to boston, went in and the gave me an impromtu tour...never forget meeting harvey back then...at the time ZLX was my favorite station...since then i have been in radio from 1992 to the present and i'm sure that day at ZLX helped drive my passion for radio.

I think your show is top notch and wish it was still avaliable online.

Have a great holiday!!

A friend of mine who likes to listen to Elvis Only had noticed that it was
replaced by Christmas music instead. In the past when WODS went all-Christmas
it was said "except for Lost 45s and Elvis Only". Not this year.<P ID="signature">______________

In regular rotation, they only play a few of his tunes,
like Suspicious Minds, Kentucky Rain, and
Burnin' Love. I am not a huge Elvis fan but I have the "#1"
and "Second to None" albums and there are a ton of good songs on those
they could play (maybe even throw in something like "Way Down").
Maybe they associate Elvis with the 50s, and the Happy Days/Chuck Berry/
Connie Francis/milkshakes-at-the-sock-hop image of WODS is long gone.
See you later, alligator.

Hey Barry, I've always love your show when it used be on KGBY 92.5FM In Sacramento from 1995-1997. You always gave 100% in every show that you produced. Congrats for both shows for doing great. Like Always "Keep It Retro". :)

Sat. Radio is coming!

Listeners, we want you to break your habit of listening to us. For this reason, we've temp. dropped the shows you've been tuning into for ages. Merry Cashmas!

Am I the only person who thinks going Christmas music isn't a good idea with Sat. radio being promoted this season?

I had thought that once a year on the weekend before Christmas, Barry Scott did a "Lost In Christmas" show featuring Christmas songs from the 1960's through 1980's that don't get much radio airplay.

If he's going to do it again this year for his nationally-syndicated version of "Lost 45's", then it's possible WODS-103.3 could broadcast that particular program.

And, if Jay Gordon devotes a program of the nationally-syndciated version of "Elvis Only" to Christmas music done by The King Of Rock 'N Roll, it's again possible WODS may be broadcasting it.

Don't forget that last year, WODS was the only Boston-area station that went all-Christmas (this assumes that Plymouth's WPLM-99.1, which went all-Christmas for twelve days last year, doesn't count as a Boston station). This year, WMJX-106.7 has also gone all-Christmas and WODS may believe that speciality shows that don't go all-Christmas, even for a few hours a week, may be enough to forefit the "Boston's Holiday Music Station" franchise to WMJX. Additionally, WMJX is a Soft AC format----and most of the stations that do go all-Christmas are Soft AC's.

Way to go, Barry. Been listening for years - keep up the good work!

No, you are not. I do not understand this concept either, especially on oldies stations. Why not just add the catalogue of christmas oldies to the playlist, starting on "Black Friday"? You start with a few and work more into the playlist with each week before Christmas.

Whatever happened to this concept - which used to work well?

As for me, like you, no more WODS preset on my stereo until December 26. The AC's (now Christmas music stations) from Boston, Worcester and Manchester are also all off-limits until after the madness ends.

Hey Barry,

Keep up the good work. It's too bad we can't hear you during
December - what is Mr. Falconi thinking?

Little Walter should follow your show.

Don't get upset by the anonymous yahoos that post on this board.
They aren't supposed to make deroggy-kinda statements

Merry Christmas Barry

It was replaced with the current "All Christmas" which works much better.

As is proven byu the ratings that virtuially all the "Christmas" stations have racked up in the previous years.

BTW...It also makes the regular oldies selections sound 'fresher' when they come back on in the New Year.
