Baseball Show to 98.5?

The Globe reported that WEEI won't be simulcasting The Baseball Show and it might end up on 98.5. Does Jason Wolfe think that anyone, except for their Yankee callers, will be listening to Mustard and Johnson if that happens? Unless 98.5 does something stupid like include Mr. Baseball Felger on the show, there'll be about a dozen people listening to 'EEI on Saturdays.

I think that 'EEI shot themselves in the foot twice recently. Is this Wolfe's decision or out of his hands?

great if it is i used to listen to try to listen to it on weei but my work has tooo much interference and of course i work every Saturday!! and i guess since the big show has no 3man weave!! they can used the ppl remaining, as well as most people from Comcast cant go on weei since they simulcast nesn or something i heard!!

Losing Merloni would be a boost to the Baseball Show , I have never heard such an arrogant ex-athlete....especially one that had no talent on the field........

The Baseball Show is great, but I want to defend Mustard and Johnson. I actually enjoy hearing two guys whose main employment is outside sports blab and just do an informal weekend gig. Mustard is a public school teacher in tony Wellesley, while Johnson is a Christian minister with a genuine understanding of human nature that comes across as refreshingly non-judgmental. The two of them often debate in a friendly, humorous and respectful manner that is sorely lacking in this day of Fox News right-wingers and CNBC left-wingers. They can laugh at each other as well as about themselves. If I may digress, am I the only one who enjoyed Hannity-Colmes on Fox News, but has stayed away completely since Hannity took over the show. Nothing against Hannity, but I thoroughly enjoyed their old show and found it informative because they both seemed to argue the issues in a friendly and respectful manner.

I agree, Mustard and Johnson are also great.
If you all like WEEI, what advice would you tell Program Management Person to make them better with their programs? Same question if you like 98.5 Sports Hub?
For WEEI, I think they should put Mike Adams on Saturday and Sunday mornings in the (old) Baseball Show timeslos wgich was ??? 9am-1pm?. But this time put him on both Saturday and Sunday mornings. If not him, my second idea is, why not try out Mustard and Johnson for that old timeslot?
Your thoughts?

I haven't listened to Mustard and Johnson in years. But something tells me their show hasn't changed. They get the same callers each week, who say the same things each week, almost in the same order. These are the callers (with the exception of Frank) who can't get on the weekday shows. How am I doing so far?

I bet Mustard is still a smarmy, condescending jerk and Larry still has a horrible Boston accent and bad grammar. I also bet that he's still trying to be funny and failing miserably. As far as his minister status, I think he got his credentials from the back of a magazine. He certainly isn't an educated person. One good thing about the new Big Show is that he'll never be on it again. When people on boards like this cite the problems with the old format of the Big Show, Larry's name is usually the first reason listed.

Neither of these two have any access to the players or coaches. Their sports knowledge is extremely limited. Whay not bring back Jermaine and Everett?

And to add fuel to the fire it's been reported in the Herald's Inside Track that Sean McAdam is moving from WEEI to Sports Hub as a contributor and fill-in host.

Probably add Buckley and DeOssie to that list with the change in format of "The Big Show"
The new Big Show format got a rid of a lot of bad co-hosts like Sterns, Smerlas, LJ, Burton, Borges, et al, But it also cost a few good ones like McAdam, Curran, Maxwell, Perillo, and maybe Buckley, though he's on Saturdays with Dale Arnold at least for now.

A great Baseball Show would be McAdam, Mazzerotti, Bob Ryan or Shaughnessy, hosted by anyone but Felger.

That's a significant defection. Usually it's the other way around but I believe McAdam got his start in radio (not print).

That means the students must refer to him (to his face, even) as Mr Mustard. I find that very funny.
If you want to read something even funnier, go to http://bruceallen.googlepages.com/lj his partner, the self proclaimed minister is a plagiarist. I don't understand how a man of God can take money for work he didn't do. I guess SI.com and the Remy Report couldn't understand it either, because they both dropped him shortly after Bruce's article.

The Baseball Show will not be on either WEEI or Sports Hub, only on Comcast SportsNet. It will still air 9a-12 noon and the show will be replayed 12 noon- 3p (at least until college football season). WEEI will have their own baseball show.

Does this mean that the Catfish and the Commie are going away again?
