Baseball Show to 98.5?

Not sure how WEEI will be handling it - heard Dale Arnold and Steve Buckley on yesterday doing a baseball show. I can only comment for sure on CSN as I'm the traffic manager.

The Arnold/Buckley show is called Sports Sunday. This seems to be the insult added to Dale's injury rather than a baseball show. Last year 'EEI had a show called "The Baseball Guys" on Sunday mornings. It was Buckley, McAdam, and Merloni I believe. It was the same cast as the Baseball Show except without Dickerson.

Please, please, please, tell me that Felger will have nothing to do with CSN's baseball show.

As of right now, no. Dickerson will be back, along with McAdam and Shaugnnesy. I'm not sure who will sub for Dickerson when he's away with the Celtics - looks like Michael Holly isn't an option this time around.

No Tony Mazz? That's too bad.

it seems this one is mostly people that contribute to 98.5 now!! except dickerson so i wonder if the comcast sports hub connection will be worked out i would love to listen to it at work. i would watch it all the time when i got the very few saturdays off!!

Felger was the original host of CSN's baseball show. And was promptly removed once the news broke of 98.5's creation as a new station. Don't think you have to worry about him returning.

Felger was removed because of the 'EEI simulcast. That no longer exists. I swear if I see that D.B. on Saturday, I'm going to "Elvis" my TV. I think I know where my wife hid the .357.

Well look for your weapon - Felger is the guest host this week since Dickerson will be with the Celtics in Atlanta on Friday. At least you've been warned.

Thanks for the warning. And a special thanks, along with the Larry Glick salute, to Jason Wolfe for screwing up the Baseball Show.

Come on guys, Felger isn't that bad! And it will keep him out of the house one more day a week.

Sincerely,

Sarah Underwood

Just kidding, but the simulcast being gone stinks, why can't 98.5 simulcast it? I mean who the heck do they have on Saturday morning anyways? Shanugsee and Adam Jones? They would make great additions.

Along with my Larry Glick salute to Jason Wolfe, I'd like to send one to CSN also. Who, at CSN, thinks having Felger host a baseball show, even temporarily, is a good idea? Felger has been very publicly humiliated by both Peter Gammons and Sean McAdam for his ignorance of baseball. Remember "Do you watch the games, Michael?" and "Mr. Baseball".

Ignorance and smarm is never a good combination.

OK, I made it through 15 min, time to retire from watching the Baseball show til Felger isn't part of it.

He started the show commenting on his own hair style for gods sake. Yeah Mike, we care about your hair so much that it's a much better lead in then opening day talk. Moron.

"EEI's offering isn't much better. Bradford is good but he's on with Kirk Minihane and some guy I've never heard of. I remember Minihane from saying that Jim Rice couldn't carry Ricky Henderson's jock, only to learn that he was about seven years old when Jim Rice played his last game. It seems that he rendered his "expert" opinion based on what he read on bubble gum cards. The other guy's voice is annoying, very smarmy, and I have no idea what qualifies him to be on a sports talk show.

One thing I wish these guys would realize is that there's a reason that they're not doing stand-up in Las Vegas or appeaearing on Comedy Central. They don't have a natural talent for comedy. Larry Johnson was the worst. I remember him on the Big Show making one stupid comment after another, trying to be funny, to the point where the silences were embarrassing.

Most of the concerns voiced in previous posts are addressed in the 2nd (web) page of Chad Finn's 4/1/2011 Globe Sports Media column:
http://www.boston.com/sports/baseba...1/04/01/obrien_gets_extension_at_weei/?page=2

Note in same column that Joel Feld, Exec. VP/Exec. Producer at NESN is out after 5+ years.
Dave O'Brien re-signing with Sox radio addressed in separate thread: http://boards.radio-info.com/smf/index.php?topic=188450.0

In case you're not a member of boston.com/Boston Globe & possibly blocked from reading, here's a summary:

Baseball Show on Comcast N.E. Saturdays @ 9am - regularly hosted by Bob Neumeier (with Michael Felger hosting 1st 2 weeks). Dan Shaughnessy will co-host along with Sean McAdam, with Lou Merloni a regular as well (since there's no affiliation with WBZ-FM: see below). Jessica Moran will be in the online/social media role. Steve Buckley will be a rotating co-host (not featured as prominently as in the past).

No radio simulcast as in past 2 seasons; 98.5 Sports Hub & CSNNE couldn't come to terms.
WEEI from 9am-1pm goes with Rob Bradford, Kirk Minihane & Matt Perrault.
Shaughnessy has left the Sports Hub weekend gig; his former co-host Adam Jones starts an internet-only weekday radio show from 12 noon-2pm on www.ESPNBoston.com on Friday, April 8 (Sox home-opening day).

So it's Neumier and not Dickerson? I guess it doesn't make much difference, though Neumier was pretty bad subbing on 'EEI over the past few months.

I guess I'm just grouchy because Wolfe and Kahn have really changed 'EEI and not for the better. Dale and Holley may have been the best show on and they've been replaced by two lightweights. The Big Show had a lot of faults, but the new format seems very forced and uncomfortable. They could have improved the Big Show by getting rid of the bad co-host(pretty obvious who they were...LJ, Stearns, Smerlas, et al) and giving more air time to the good ones.

After all that they mess up the Baseball Show. I've listened to a lot of Oldies 103 this past month.

I just read, on the media board at SOSH, that someone is claiming to be Matt Perrault and asking the fans to like him. This is one of the two featherweights that they stuck Bradford with on Saturday mornings. If this is for real, this guy is even more pathetic than he sounds. It could be a joke. That forum is not exactly packed with fans of WEEI.
