Basketball on WTIC-FM?

If CBS Hartford had a choice, it would not air women's basketball, especially on FM. UConn men's basketball is popular, and its football team is doing well recently.

Why on Earth wouldn't they want to air women's basketball?

The demographics, maybe? A disproportionate percentage of the fans I see during UConn women's games on CPTV seem to be women over 55 years old, including a good number of white-haired grandma types. I wonder if the student body at UConn is anywhere near as enthusiastic about women's basketball as it is about men's basketball, which has been an obsession in this state among all age groups for years. Seems to me that the UConn women have caught on with a traditional CPTV demographic that's never been interested much in sports before.

Why on Earth wouldn't they want to air women's basketball? The women's team is at least as popular as the men's team and far more popular than the football team.
At most schools, football and men's basketball are the only revenue-generating sports. If UConn women's basketball had a season like they did last year, ranked #1, they would become popular.
A few years ago, Rutgers was in the national championship for women's b-ball. That didn't get much coverage by itself. Don Imus's 3 nasty words about the team got much more coverage.
