From RadioStarOne above: "The two small bay area bic lighters on AM 910,960 will be gone in a heartbeat to get KGO! Are you ready for John and Ken in the afternoon on KGO? Rush? I could see CC even do whatever it takes to get KCBS and KIFR 106.9."
Granted that CBS may not be using common sense in buying 106.9 just to let it languish without permanent replacement hosts for multiple months. But Clear Channel is not CBS. Why would CC want to pay a huge amount of money for the ABC stations just to blow out all the popular hosts at KGO, and turn it into a KFI clone? San Francisco is not LA. Sorry to repeat myself, but "live and local" seems to work best in the Bay Area, and KGO has built up a huge amount of listner loyalty and remained Number One by being consistent over multiple decades. If CC should buy the ABC stations, I can see them leaving KGO's format alone. Adding John and Ken to Rush and Dr. Laura on KSFO might make sense. On the other hand, if they think John and Ken would be so great in the Bay Area, why don't they put J&K on KNEW, and dump Armstrong and Getty?
