Bay Area News

KPIX - CBS5...
No, Samantha Mohr has not left the station. She and Roberta Gonzales have swapped shifts. Samantha is doing Morning and Noon, while Roberta is doing the 5, 6, and 11pm newscasts.

They did a whole good bye to her last week. She went back to Atlanta.

Was I mistaken?

I looked at CBS5's web page and yes, Samantha Mohr is not there?!

It was reported that she and Roberta were swapping shifts. No mention of her departure. Hmmmm. Sorry for any misinformation.

Here is my personal ratings for Bay area News.
1. KGO
2. KPIX
3. KTVU (was #2 before Leslie Griffin left KTVU)
4. KNTV (geez, can they stop the headline news of Southbay and focus more in Central Bay, also their news seems to be like Market #122 instead of Market#5 ).
5. KRON (was #1 before Chronicle sold their TV station to Young Broadcast and before they loose their NBC affiliate to KNTV).

Anyone know what happened to channel 2' "crack a smile once in a while" Dennis Richmond been? I haven't seen him in over a month.

Uh...have you guys been watching? Dennis has been at his anchor desk for the 6:00 news the last 2 nights - I haven't checked at 10:00.

I heard on the radio the other day he is set to call it quits some time in 2008.

"I heard on the radio the other day he (Dennis Richmond) is set to call it quits some time in 2008."

He's certainly entitled to retire. According to the KTVU website, he has been anchoring the 10:00 News since 1976. Co-anchors along the way were Barbara Simpson (more recently, the right-wing talk host who bills herself as "The Babe in the Bunker"), then Elaine Corral, Leslie Griffith, and now Julie Haener.

If he retires in 08, that will make 32 years - probably a Bay Area record. Dave McElhatton was anchor on KPIX from about 1977 to '98...about 31 years. As far as I know, nobody else even comes close.

er,...uh...excuse my lame arithmetic. 77 to 98 (McElhatton) is only 21 years, so Richmond's tenure beats Dave's by more than a decade.

Actually, McElhatton anchored from '77 to 2000. That's 23 years.

If you heard that on KNBR today, I think Gary's thought was that Tom Sinkovich would be a good replacement for Alan Denton.

"I am able to white balance my video camera with Allen Dentons teeth!"

Fortunately, these use a matte shellac on his cement hair-do, KIFR, or the glare would burn out your video camera. I'm finding him a little more tolerable lately, since they asked him to stop shouting on the 11:00 news.
