Baylor pulling funding from KWBU

It seems public stations, at least in my area, have moved away from "education." They used to run TV courses during the overnight period in which one could enroll and for which one could receive academic credit. No more.

By education, I meant teaching students about broadcasting. Apparently there has been some kind of relationship between Baylor's journalism department and the station. I don't know if that will continue with the funding cut. A lot of college stations do student-hosted coverage of the school's athletics program. I don't see that at KWBU, and some of that may be due to university contracts with Learfield and other providers.

Not needed any more, as we now have countless online class opportunities from a large number of educational institutions.

Correct, in fact I know people who do that kind of thing in conjunction with a college. It's more direct than broadcasting, and you can interact on a one-to-one basis similar to being in a classroom. Some non-com radio stations once did instructional programming as well in the 50s and 60s, and none of them do it anymore as far as I know.
