Beach Boogie & Blues Comes To 1070 WNCT Monday Jan 5TH

The station will be programmed in house and will stream live @ 1070wnct.com.
I'll be doing mornings 6am-10am and we are going to make it local and listener friendly...We are working out details as I type....50,000watts in HD...I'm very excited. I hope you will give it a listen....

Allen

Well do. I'm a big beach music fan I sure be tuned in. I guess it's now time to crank up The Catalinas!

I hope you'll like it.. It will be different and I am gonna bust my butt to localize it in the mornings and with the HD and the internet I think it will sound good and get some attention...All I can do is work as hard as I can and see what happens...

Allen

Hopefully they will leave the HD turned off. I know they had it turned off awhile back because of listener complaints. Nobody has an HD radio so all it does is make the analog signal sound like crap to everyone.

Allen, it will be good to hear you every day, especially in that day part. This is also a good format to pick for an AM signal... much better than putting CCM on AM. I wish you the best of luck with the new venture!

Thanks I'm working on some features to localize it while still being music intensive.
Its gonna sound like nothing else on the dial and the net and I hope we can create a station that people will love..

Allen

Congrats on the new gig, Allen. Don't worry, I remember I still owe you lunch.

Don

Yeah this is certainly an opportunity to do some things we've talked about.. I'm really excited and I think this format has potential. When you factor in signal strength, the internet and really building something from the ground up, I'm confident the station can turn into something that will get the attention of the audience and advertizers...I work with good people who I know will help me get the job done...

I grew up in Eastern NC and now live in Orlando. I even had my own beach music show on a 1kw daytimer in Henderson back in the early 80's. I had a very extensive beach music collection but like a fool I sold it at a garage sale about 2 years ago after I had not touched it for 10 years. About 2 years ago I discovered Steve Hardy's show on your FM WNCT. I gave up listening to as the ads were so much louder than was the programming. I hope when you start your streaming this will not be a problem. It is very difficult to set the stream and leave it playing while working and moving around the room where you are listening. Hope all goes well.

WOW Good Luck to you Allen... I miss my days of playing Beach Music... Every now and then when I do my speciality oldies show online I will throw on one or two beach songs for people who have never heard Carolina Beach Music and they instantly like it... Good Luck. CC1

I remeber when WVOT 1420 was a beach music format around the mid 90's at sometime. It want a to bad sounding beach station afterall. I can't remeber why it failed. That was when Mark Miller was over there.

That's because a lot of stations put no processing whatsoever on the stream... it sounds terrible and I wish more stations would put some effort into the stream. I stream 107.9 The Link in Charlotte daily at work and it is very easy to listen to... sounds almost as good as their on air signal.

I'm looking forward to hearing suggestions from everyone..I welcome input on how we can make a great station and I will pass them on to powers higher than I.
I've got lots of ideas and this really is building a new station from the ground up programming wise..As with most new ventures there are still some questions to be answered but it is a work in progress and there is already some buzz about the station. One of the most important things i have to do is let people know its there for them with some very grassroots promotion ideas...They can't like it unless they know where to get it and what they are getting....

WVOT was an awesome beach station, except for Saturdays when I was on the mike. ;D

BB had that thing tuned up right.

Congrats to you Allen. Is this a fulltime gig? I know you really love local radio and will do great! I'll give it a listen. This ole country boy does love me some beach music too. Eddie Dee,(r.i.p.) one of the greats turned me on to it while I was still in school in Deep Run, NC. :D

I hope George Beasley appreciates the passion and talent you bring to his cluster!

Kris

Allen, I envy you you have a great opportunity here and I know you will make it super. They can use something like an Optimod PC on the stream to level out the levels or if nothing else come off the HD processor. Just a thought to pass along to the engineers. I don't know if I can get it here but I will do some testing this week to see, if not I will try the stream. At least you won't be lifting 50lbs or more every day as you were doing. I wish you all the best my friend and good luck!

Thanks Kris & Double J..I'm gonna do the best I can... Things are coming together. I won't sleep a wink on Sunday night...I really think if we give people something they can't get anywhere else this will work..The people at Beasley have been very supportive of my ideas..

I’m happy to hear that there’s another beach music station in the Carolinas. I’m from New York state. While vacationing in Myrtle Beach, SC a couple years ago, my grandparent’s car radio was always tuned to WBCO “The Surf” (94.9.) While listening, I fell in love with the music, and I found myself wishing that there was a beach music station that I could at least stream online.

Allen, could you please give me the website for your station so I can hear it? Thanks.
