Beach Boys followed by Jan and Dean?

Oldies stations need to stop with 1980 or so. There are only a few artists such as Billy Joel, Elton John, Fleetwood Mac, Roy Orbison and Huey Lewis and the News. Queen did one 50s-style song.

But Eurythmics? "Would I Lie to You" fits, "Sweet Dreams" does not.

Nor do I. "Dead Man's Curve" into "Somebody to Love"? Go for it! Unlike a lot of pre-British Invasion pop, surf music (and the Jan & Dean song is surf music, even though it's not about surfing) blended comfortably with later music in oldies formats right through the '90s, when the culling of ancient songs began in earnest. Other '50s genres, like doo-wop and standards-style pop, disappeared from oldies radio a lot sooner. I was hearing "Surf City" and "Little Cobra" on my local classic hits station many years after "Get a Job" and "Harbor Lights" had been banished from the playlist.
Most oldies stations. There's also an HD-2 channel for WOXL Asheville NC.

Although the man who owns it plays what he likes. He also has a big FM playing classic rock which doesn't sound like every other classic rock station. I haven't checked it lately but that station has played Marvin Gaye, America and The Temptations. Stevie Wonder's "Superstition" has shown up on conventional classic rock radio so I won't count that. Both stations reach Charlotte but the AM is out of the question after dark.
