Beatstock canceled at Six Flags

I just saw this so excuse me for bringing this topic back up.

When I say that "you're funny" it has nothing to do with the comical sense but with your double standard. You speak of negativity but who's actions were truly negative? Concert goers pay to see certain acts then those artists were canceled at the last minute. The word spread quickly and people sold off their tickets or called Ticketmaster to refund their money. And you call that negative? Did you prefer to have these concert goers who pay to see dance acts duped only to see the likes of The Iconic Boys? A pre-teen dance troupe lol!

Anyway,I'm not trying to get into a long back and forth over this. You have your opinion and I have mine regarding this issue. We'll just have to agree to disagree.

I'm glad you cleared up the "funny" part because I wasn't quite sure where you were going with that. :)

Now, let's go this direction... :) People were upset about some acts being pulled out the last second since they spent money on this. I actually can understand the freestyle community specifically. But from all of the background I know regarding this event, this wasn't something the main promoter (Vito Bruno) pulled on purpose. That's where I came with the "too bad you can't see it past what was in front of you" because I knew more of the story behind this....in terms of the corporate parent that pulled their station out of Beatstock, why NJ was cancelled, other stuff that for what it is, I stay "quiet" whereas it turned the concert into a "tween fest".

There was a lot of shady crap going on and it pissed me off because everyone was putting the blame on Vito and it really WASN'T him. Do I hope there's another Beatstock? Sure :). It's going to take a major corporation to come back (or someone else new and major) but if it doesn't, I wouldn't be shocked based on everything that went down this year. And to that, the Beatstock crowd isn't the type that's necessarily going to hit Electric Zoo as a substitution.

I'll be more than happy to explain things further if you still want to. Call me up.

Electric Zoo attracts a national audience, and Beatstock attracts a local audience. Electric Zoo is the largest electronic music festival in the US, and people make plans to fly to NYC just for this. The Electric Zoo crowd would be turned off by pop acts, and the Beatstock crowd wouldn't like dubstep.

Off subject per se.....but it is me? Or on Facebook, do I not see anyone really talking about Electric Zoo this year....

Other years I would see tons of posts, pictures, etc. This year on my "news feed"...zilch, nada. I'm just wondering if this event is "pricing out" people from going based on their complicated ticket schemes?

It's definitely more expensive than in previous years, and it is more expensive than music festivals like All Points West. Electric Zoo seems to be aimed at a national and even international audience. Despite the higher price, I think the audience this year was bigger than last year.

I got my tickets months ago before the lineup was announced. $130 for all 3 days.

There was also the Dance Here Now festival which was cheaper and that was aimed at a local audience. Also there was the Identity tour. So Electric Zoo had a little more competition this year. Electric Zoo has the largest venue and the most acts.

It's great that we now have a lot more electronic music events in the area.
