Beck will find a new home?

Corby and Joel Riley are thousands of times better than that Glenn Beck moron. He doesn't know what the word socialism means.

BC talked to Glenn Beck on his Thursday morning show. BC wanted to, "Welcome back Glenn Beck to the Columbus radio airways." BC isn't aware that Glenn Beck was on WTDA FM for the last two years or dose he refuse to acknowledge the competition? Maybe Glenn Beck considered his show on WTDA as non existent because of WTDA's low power and low ratings and didn't want BC to talk about his former presence on WTDA? Of course, BC wasn't going to bring up the point that Glenn was kicked off of WTVN two years ago to
make way for the local talk show hosted by Joel Riley. BC has WAY to much class to bring that up.

BC noted the hour before his interview with Glenn that he was closing in the popularity gap with with Rush. If that is truly the case then Joel Riley was demoted because CC Columbus found a more popular talk show
host for that time slot. Joel said on the air that his show was cut by CC for strictly economic reasons.

I was surprised when WTVN announced that they were dropping GB from TVN two years ago and considered it a bad decision on CC part but I'm not a fan of GB.

i find corby to be quite talented and entertaining. his approach is a touch dry, which to me is part of his appeal. for my dollar, joel riley has it all over glenn beck, in that he's competent AND local. on the other hand when sterling was on 'tvn he was just local. beck was entertaining years ago when he first hit. now he's just another egotistical windbag

How will this affect CC Columbus? What about WTVN??

The Wall Street Journal paints a more realistic pictures of the CC layoffs here: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123214134302591501.html

A layoff of 7% in the CC radio division is more reasonable then the 20% figure posted a couple of weeks weeks ago on the the San Antonio board about the CC cuts.

Man, a 20% lay off could cripple CC's radio division in my opinion and that is why I didn't believe that figure. NOW the 7% layoff SEEMS OFFICIAL.

Also, I hear that BC dose his morning show from his Winter home in Florida. Any comments?

That's not news. He's been doing that for several years now. He still sounds like he's right here, so that's good for him!

BC is not the only big time morning guy that goes to Florida during the winter and still does their show back home.

You've got to remember BC is in his mid 70's (74 I believe). Apparently he is important enough to get some leeway where he broadcasts his show from. He's well beyond retirement age but apparently enjoys the job and/or the money and 610 enjoys his work to pay him the money and give him the gift of no frigid or snow days while at home.

Is BC really that old? Any way, it looks like he has been doing his winter shows from Florida for several years now according to this article here: http://www.sbnonline.com/Local/Article/316/70/0/BCs_road_show.aspx

Apparently, he doesn't want his listeners to know it's Sunny and Warm in Florida when Columbus is having a Blizzard! Is that right for him to keep that under wraps from his listeners? Is he being fair to his listeners?

Heard Joel Riley doing fill-in from 7PM to 10PM last Sunday Night. Joley mentioned that his new duties at WTVN
include doing program research for Bob Conners and Corby. Joel said that Corby pretty much ignore the news tips he passes along. Also, he said his new duties also including updating part of the WTVN website.

Don't think it was mentioned here before that one of the causalities of the Glenn Beck taking over Joel's show
was that his producer, Ben Johnson, was let go a couple of weeks latter. Ben Johnson was doing the Sunday
evening for a year before he was let go by WTVN. A few days after Joel's last show, the following Sunday, Ben said he and Joel Riley were still with the stations and were NOT going anywhere. Ben Johnson was not aware of the forthcoming lay off at CC or thought he would survive them. Personnel, I don't blame him because he seemed to be a loyal CC employ. Not a lot of seniority so that is what may have done him in. Then again, Joel
said it was a budget(Adding Beck) cut so from that standpoint, it makes scene that he(Ben) is gone. Everyone EXCEPT me thought Joel would be history at WTVN after Beck was added to the station during his shift.

Really? Where?

Correction, Joel Riley was doing fill in work for Dirk Thompson, from Noon to 3:00 PM last Sunday on WTVN.
The name "Chuck Douglas helped jog my memory of last Sunday evening. So, thanks for your post. It's been
musical chairs on WTVN's Sunday shifts for the last few weeks, so it not easy to keep up with them.

Chuck Douglas was doing the 7PM to 10PM shift last Sunday on WTVN. Are you the same Chuck Douglas on
WTVN radio? If so, I like your show. In any case, here is the Chuck Douglas that is now holding down
the Sunday show, from 7-10PM on WTVN: http://www.myspace.com/chuckdouglasradio He mentioned this
site on his show last Sunday. He took Ben Johnson's place after Ben last let go by CC during all of their lay offs.

Hi CDP. Congratulations! I know how much you have always wanted to do talk radio. Hopefully this is the start of something big. You certainly have the chops to do it! I will try to listen in sometime soon.

People are still complaining about Joel Riley losing his show to Glenn Beck. Someone called into BC's "Open Phones" show last Saturday morning with Joey Riley
filling in for BC. Joel told this person that the old owners moved him from the evenings to the 9AM-Noon time slot because they wanted a live talk show
during that time slot. This then displaced Glenn Beck show which found a new home on WTDA. Now, he says, the "new owners" of WTVN have a different
philosophy and it was their decision to place Glenn back on his former 9AM-Noon time slot which has left him without a show on WTVN. Back in January,
Joel said that he lost his show on WTVN due to a budget cuts at CC.

Now, two questions. Was this caused by a budget cut or the new owners different philosophy in programming the station. Also, dose the station really have
"new owners" running the station? I thought CC is still running the Columbus cluster but CC went private.

If you are interested in listening this callers conversation with Joey, click here:
http://www.610wtvn.com/cc-common/podcast/single_podcast.html?podcast=bconyourpc.xml
and then click on the third hour of the Saturday, March 21 show. This conversation is at the very end of the third hour podcast.

Also, One person also called into the show last Saturday morning and suggested that CC place ALL LIVE LOCAL talk shows on 1230 AM because the Open Phones is very popular and people need a place to vent. I got a chuckle out of that but it would be very nice for CC to at least consider that.

I can't believe no brought up this article from THEOTHERPAPER on Bob Conners aka BC and Mayor Coleman.

Its called:
"MEDIA MORSEL: Conners to Coleman: Correct it yourself"

I think BC is wanting to bring attention to Glenn Beck's return to the WTVN airways by bringing up the fact that Mayor Coleman dose not want to be on his very popular show on WTVN. BC wants their listeners to
remember that very memorable conversation Mayor Coleman had with Glenn Beck a few years ago when Glenn
Beck was on WTVN radio.

To QUOTE the article in this weeks THEOTHERPAPER HERE:

MEDIA MORSEL: Conners to Coleman: Correct it yourself
Published: Thursday, December 18, 2008 2:27 PM EST

Columbus Mayor Mike Coleman and local AM radio legend Bob Conners are on the outs.

Conners’ frustration—and perhaps the root of what WTVN has characterized as an unfortunate “misspeak” rather than “a lie”—stems from the fact that for several years, Coleman has not jumped at the chance to be a guest on one of Columbus’s most-listened-to morning shows.

Elliot seems to think Conners is being punished for an incident that took place in 2005 during the mayor’s brief, but gaffe-filled, run for governor. Coleman made an ill-advised call-in to the Glenn Beck show hosted on WTVN, where he and the conservative radio host spent a few minutes screaming over each other before the mayor shouted, “Don’t question my manhood!” Long story short, it was not a beneficial conversation for the mayor.

“The issue a few years back was on a syndicated program the mayor called into and, I’m sure you know, didn’t go well,” said Ellliot, in an email to Williamson.

Since then, the mayor’s appearances on WTVN have been, well, there haven’t been any.

I looks like Mayor Coleman and Bob Conners have made up or is this just politics? Mayor Coleman will be a guest on Bob Conners show this Wednesday morning
at 8:15 AM. I think they are going to talk about the mayors proposed city income tax hike. The mayor may be aware of the huge audience BC commands in the morning and see this as a good vehicle/opportunity to pitch his income tax hike. The mayor said on the WOSU_AM that the city is now in crises and needs this passed in August.
