Makes me glad I live in central east Texas. Or has it been annexed, too?

Batman, I think you're from Oklahoma. Hey -- it will probably
be the other way around -- then you can be a Texan.

Remember the old joke: What keeps Texas from sliding into the
gulf of Mexico? Oklahmoma sucks.... (ha)

LOL Thought about that one, too, when I read this thread.

NE Texas had a going out of business sale and has been sold to Rupert Murdock.

So does this mean we can expect more quality programming from a certain radio station toward the upper end of the FM allocation???? (Channel 289C licensed to Longview, to be exact)

You missed a lot:

1. KYKX started a new smear campaign against The Blaze, claiming that they play more country music than The Blaze, and blasting them for not showing up at the Tyler Cattle Barron's Ball. Inexplicably, the day after this campaign started, KYKX rose to #1 in the market and The Blaze dropped to 20th. An aside to this is that, after seeing War of the Worlds, Dru rushed back to the station and reported breaking news that we were being invaded by Martians.

2. The Blaze responded to this campaign by KYKX by adding Keith Urban to their playlist. When asked why, the official response was, "His name is Urban ain't it? Then he must be da bomb."

3. Access-1 sued Waller, claiming that since Sunny and Breeze were both meteorological terms, Waller should cease and desist the use of The Breeze moniker, as this might cause listener confusion.

4. The Breeze and Sunny both had Lionel Ritchie marathons on the same day. Local officials report that the suicide rate increased by 300%.

5. 103.1 broke it's own previous record by keeping the same format for 30 days. Immediately after the record was broken, they switched to a Vietnamese Christian format.

6. Citing budget cuts, CC Tyler cut the 96X playlist from 100 to 50 songs. They claimed that this would cut the operating expenses of the station in half.

7. CC Tyler started a new promotion for KNUE, claiming "We're East Texas' number one country, and we don't even try. Neener-Neener-Neener."

8. CC Tyler refused to upgrade the hard-drive at KTYL and KISX, so they downgraded their 64 kbps mp3's to 28 kbps.

9. At The Bull, nothing happened (as usual)

10. KZEY, KOFY, and KWRD have been reported off the air. When owner Jerry Russell was contacted, his response was, "I own those stations?"

11. Gleiser, saying he was committed to the Longview market, announced that he would put a translator in Longview for KDOK. He then said he was just kidding.

On the TV side:

1. UPN has put another translator on the air in Longview. KGPN-LP channel 69 serves greater Greggton.

2. KLTV has asked for another extension from the FCC for KLTV-DT. The requested extension was to 2025.

3. NBC56 news inexplicably dropped to number 4 in the market, behind Fox 51. This is unusual, as Fox 51 has not had a newscast for several years. To add insult to injury, NBC56 stupidly reported their own downfall, and the graphics behind the anchor said, "NBC569 knews dropps two forth."

4. Fox51 celebrated one year pornography free.

:) Have a nice day.

The throng mentioned in #1 turned out to be not aliens but a mob of irate listeners storming the KYKX studios on the Loop. Two signs among many said "Dethrone Dru" and "Kan KYKX."

Wait...it already is canned ten hours a day. And they claim it's "live and local".

Ah-Ha. You were reading "can" from the technological/programming perspective and I was taking the "kan it and chunk it" route--which may well happen. Your idea moves the thought a good step further. Both possibilities apply.

I knew what you were getting at...I just decided to have some fun with/at it. Thanks! :)
