It would have been announced by now if Star 102 WTSS, #5 in the latest ratings, was moving to another frequency. But that wouldn't stop an owner like Townsquare from flipping #14 rated 92.9 WBUF to Hot AC. I imagine there's nothing preventing WBUF from calling itself Star 92.9, once K-Love is on 102.1.
I assume WTSS's Hot AC audience is nearly all between 25 and 54, female leaning, excellent demos. Has anyone stated why EMF chose THIS station? Audacy owns 98.5 WKSE, Kiss-FM, a Top 40 station with lower ratings. Did anyone say "EMF wanted 110,000 watt WTSS because it can be heard in much of the Toronto market as well as Buffalo"?
I would guess WTSS is Audacy's best billing FM station. Maybe Talk WBEN and Sports WGR bill more, because with a spoken-word format you can sell more spots than a music station can. WBEN is #4 and WGR is #6. But on the FM dial, WTSS may be one of Buffalo's most profitable stations.
