It's likely KGO or Citadel has policy covering this. It's common in many businesses for an employee to be placed on suspension after criminal charges are filed. I'm not sure if it's in our employee handbook now that our small market radio station is owned by a big chain, but back when were a small company (5 facilities) it was right in the handbook... if you're charged with a crime, you're suspended without pay until the matter is resolved.
I doubt anyone made the decision to take Ward off the air, they most likely followed the policy already in place.
If the police seized Ward's computer, they had to get a search warrant. To get a warrant, the police must have probable cause, and the warrant has to be signed by a judge. It's not a violation of the 4th amendment, although lawyers have been known to find all kinds of techicalities and loopholes.
