mckee. bar none. he inspired most of the other guys on the list.

Peach the Gospel HARD brother. This only reason this is even being talked about is that most of you aren't old enough to remember McKee is his heyday. Plus McKee has all the awards to back it up!

I remember when Gary McKee replaced the Greaseman on Z93. He was definitely past his prime, but still pretty darn good!

I've got to agree on McKee....

When I first started working at 94Q, He was just plain GREAT, but still had the fire to get better....He worked with the PD every day to do just that, and really didn't have to.

He had all the money he would ever need, and every accolade in the inventory at the time, but wasn't within a thousand miles of complacency.

What a PRO.

Anyone remember --
Red Jones (WQXI-AM)
Bob Van Camp (WSB-AM)
Tom Hughes (WGST)
Bob McKee (WAOK)

One of the best AM guys who did not make was Russ Sponner at WSB. I do not know what happened in Atlanta, but he was LOL funny on WMAK in Nashville.

Red Jones actually still does mornings at WKNG AM 1060 in Tallapoosa. The station now streams 24/7 at wkng.com.

A few years ago at the GRHOF banquet, I saw Russ Spooner's name tag. I didn't live in Atlanta when he was here, but I knew his name from WMAK. I told him, "I know who you are. WMAK, right?" He said, "Yes, but I was also on WSB."

The best billboard ever seen in atlanta, at Peachtree and Roswell Road, above Hi-Fi Buys. It had no radio station logo on it, but everyone knew. It simply said, "Did you hear what Gary said this morning?"
That pretty much says how he had this town in the palm of his hand.

How soon we forget.........anybody remember Scotty Andrews? He WAS V-103 and took that
station to #1 where it has been ever since.......I believe. You board guys may not have listened,
but OTHER folks did.

After reading upon him considering he was long before my time, I have to say anyone that helped aid V-103 become the dominant force in Atlanta and urban radio nationwide has to be someone very talented.
