Some time back I spoke with a PD at a Florida station about a DJ job, and recognized the name instantly -- Bob DiCarlo or DeCarlo.
And he said yes, that he was the one whose show and voice I recalled hearing in 1971. In fact, New Year's Day morning at 6:03, out of his show's first song, his outro was nothing but a hungover groan. No call letters, no title or artist or jingle -- just misery, into another song.
But that was from the signal of WDRC-FM Hartford CT, sort of at the other end of I-84.
For the longest while, 'DRC was in the punctual habit of showing up in perhaps ten separate ratings books and five states. Their signal still booms into Eastern Long Island and in 1970 often was the only FM pop-music choice for people living east of mid-Island.
Anyway, he once told me he was from Shickshinny PA.
Was DiCarlo ever a Scranton/Wilkes-Barre jock or PD ?
