Best C-CHR the country?

Another thought after last night's rant: I wouldn't go so far as to accuse Moody of being anti-CCM. However they do lean more inspo and soft AC in the music they play, at least on their translator in my area. I will admit that they generally don't do anything to reach youth though, probably because they think that isn't their calling. (Although I don't see why they couldn't do a second network with CCM like AFR has done.) They used to try to be more youth oriented on Saturday nights (although leaning toward AC), but I don't think they even do that any more.

The KJV Only group that bought WAJJ are blatantly anti-CCM and are the ones who are totally out of touch when it comes to reaching young people for Christ, which is worse. But then they probably don't care about reaching any youth outside their own group anyway.

Turning this thread back to its original direction ----

I see a commonality in a lot of posts: WAY-FM. I have personally found the different stations to vary from almost the soccer mom variety to the bordering on rock variety. I was disappointed a few years back when all the stations streamed just the Nashville outlet. It is nice to have the individual streams again, so I can choose the ones with more of a youthful slant.

A CHR playing SCC's "Cinderella"? ???

Christian CHR was serviced SCC's "Cinderella" It's a good song, but I know my station its being played in "lighter" rotation.

Wow, even a few AC's didn't play it because it was too soft.

wow, this had been a very interesting and informational topic for me. To try and see what works and what doesn't. What people are and aren't doing.

I feel like God has put it in my heart to start a Christian CHR here in central NC and I have no idea how to get the means. I'll just have to continue to pray for a way. The thing about alot of Christian stations that say they target this generation is alot of what has been said so far. They aim for 12-34 but are really hitting 34+ and sounding like an AC. Either that or they're all Rock and the middle of the roaders tune out.

Let's keep the corny-factor to a minimum, play a good mix of Pop, Rock, and the occassional Holy Hip Hop that's catchy. Let's get some strong, upbeat, and dynamic Jocks who aren't so white-bread and balding that they annoy the listener. I think a strong web presence is ESSENTIAL as well. Blogs, Videos, Streaming, the works. The site should reflect the attitude and interaction of the station.

I think Hangar Radio Z in Spartanburg, SC does a great job of sounding young and exciting. Never got to stream them when jocks are on to see about them. KZZQ was great to stream. Haven't gotten to listen much since their switch to "Positive Hits" and the Pulse monkier. I just hope they don't water down the message to match the music.

Thanks Ben! I appreciate the mention here! We've been really blessed! For a better taste of what and who we are; tune in on Saturday Nights from 7-10pm for great interactive radio with Britt!

You can also stream online at www.thez.com

Thanks for listening!
