KLIF/1190, peaking in the late 1960s/early '70s;
KNUS/98.7, reaching its zenith in the mid '70s;
WBAP/820, in the late '70s with Don Harris, Jim Baker, Jimmy Stewart, Don Day, Dick Siegel, etc.;
KZEW/97.9, same time period;

Mostly because of the music, but KDL was better with the DJs and mixes.

Y-95: the Buzzy days
100.3 Jamz: Elroy's reign
KEGL: Rock of the 80s era

Listen to KVIL's 2 minute jingle about the end of KLIF as a powerhouse. Kind of ironic. "It's a shame whats happened to radio..."

I haven't lived in North Texas for 10 years, but here's my votes from the past...

KVIL late 70s through the 80s (I lived in a small town near Waco and you could hear KVIL on the cable TV all news crawl channel. They sent it down the sub-carrier of the microwave signal they used to get Indy KTVT on our cable system.)

KSCS 80's The first "continuous country" station, KASE in Austin also had great success about this time. (Again, we could hear KSCS thanks to our "Mom&Pop" Cable TV system.)

WBAP in the C&W days of the 60s-70s-80s. Bill Mack overnight Truckers Show, Harold Taft with weather, Don Harris, Don Day, Jimmy Stewart, and an outstanding news department. There were many parts of Texas where you couldn't get any other AM or FM station on the dial, except WBAP.

KZEW Mid 70's early 80's
KTXQ Late 70's - Early 80's
KLIF Mid 60's - Early 70's
