BEST/WORST AM STATION
BEST/WORST COUNTRY
BEST/WORST CLASSIC HITS/ OLDIES
BEST/WORST MORNING SHOW
BEST/WORST IMAGING

WCBS gets my vote for 'Best Classic Hits', ' Best Morning Show', and 'Best Imaging'. I have found myself listening to this station exclusivly in the mornings that my commute takes me south of the Mid-Hudson Bridge (DT rocks).

WRWD gets my vote for 'Best Country'. The jack ass that does the morning show needs to get the boot... along with the ever so boring Dave (late afternoons)...

WHUD gets the edge for AC.

WORST CHR- KY-104
WORST ROCK /ALTERNATIVE WRRV, WPDH: HELLO??? HOW DO YOU SPELL REPITITION????
BEST AC- WHUD, SOLID AS EVER
BEST AM STATION: WHVW, 6-9 AM ONLY....
BEST COUNTRY: WRWD, DAVE NEEDS TO GO BACK TO SHOVELING COW ___T; WHERE'S WALKER??
WORST COUNTRY: THE WOOF 94.3: THE ONLY GRIPE I HAVE IS THAT THEY PLAY STUFF THATS NOT COUNRTY?? WHATS UP WITH THAT?
WORST "CLASSIC HITS": WPBM: [EDIT-inflammatory] THEY AIN'T HITS, U NEED TO READ JOEL WHITBURNS BOOKS AND SEE WHICH ONES WERE HITS?? FORGET ABOUT YER VENDETTA AGAINST PENNDEL RD..
BEST CLASSIC HITS: CBS FM
WORST MORNING SHOW: THOSE IDIOTS ON WPDH; THE ONE CLOWN SOUNDS LIKE HE'S GOT 1 FOOT IN THE GRAVE AND OTHER ON A BANANA PEEL, AND THE OTHERS...WELL TOO MUCH BACKSLAPPIN'...ZOLZER NEEDS TO SEE THE DOOR...

BEST MORNING SHOW: WRWD, MOSTLY BECAUSE OF DAWN SPICER; SHE'S NOT JUST ANOTHER BIMBO THAT LAUGHS AT EVERYTHING THE GUYS SAYS; SHE ACTUALLY HAS A BRAIN...

BEST IMAGING" CBS-FM: HANDS DOWN, FROM THE FORMAT SWITCH LAST YEAR (UNFORGETTABLE AND THE BEST I HAVE EVER HEARD), TO THEIR PROCESSING...HOW COME NO STATIONS IN THE HUDSON VALLEY SOUND THIS GOOD?????

You're missing something

No option for best use of the web?

C'mon. It ain't 1995 any more. The explosion of entertainment options on the internet is the main reason why radio and the rest of traditional media are wetting themselves...and those new options are on course to blow by radio while you're having a flame war about imaging guys.

Good point about the web.....never gave it a thought. between streaming and websites it's become a good and neccesary compliment to the real product, which is of course, radio.... As far as a flame war goes, just stating my opinion. If someone here doesn't think we should be doing it, I'll go elsewhere. Got an inflammatory on my last post, didn't realize that it was quite that bad, unless the ran man is moderator?? ???

go for it

When did any of these become "Hudson Valley" stations??

Curtis & Kuby?? C'mon.
Why don't you just go ahead and mention "Ross & Wilson"?

As as for the point about websites. Isnt that like saying "best stick"? Its all about what you program.
No one's going to visit the website of a station that they aren't interested to listen to.

The stations listed are Hudson Valley stations.

WCBS-AM considers Rockland, Orange, Putnam, Westchester, Dutchess and Ulster counties in its market. They even give traffic reports on parts of Ulster County - the northern-most county listed there.

WKXP serves the Hudson Valley.

WABC considers Rockland, Orange, Putnam, Westchester, Dutchess, Pike, Sullivan and Ulster counties in its market. They often use promos saying "WABC - Number one AM station in [one of the above counties].

WSPK is the Hudson Valley's CHR station.

WCBS-FM recently began translating on a station in Warwick, Orange County.

What are you talking about?

(Is this message board for radio professionals, or what)?

The Hudson Valley IS NOT the primary area targetted by WABC, WCBS, WKTU, WLTW...Also, WKTU is not a CHR..Yes, they reach a good deal of the Hudson Valley and they show up in the ratings, but you can't call these Hudson Valley Stations...Beyond Rockland and Westchester there is very little consideration of programming and sales...Also, hard to understand the negativity towards WPDH and K104....It's almost impossible to find radio stations with live jocks 24/7, let alone in markets the size of the Hudson valley...PDH has some very talented radio veterans throughout the day as does K104...both do a nice job imaging and promotionally.....K104 has a very nice web presence also...and say what you will about them musically, but stations like PDH have a very tight playlist for the very same reason that WBPM is getting bashed left and right on this board...It seems like you're damned if you do or you're damned if you don't on rock stations...As far as K104 musically, it's not the same cookie cutter BS that's covering the rest of the country...It has a NY flavor and a nice energy that is missing from most of the CHR's up and down the east coast with a few exceptions.. I guess it's just a matter of the grass is always greener somewhere else, but in all seriousness radio in the Valley isn't really all that bad(at least compared to most other places)

I think you simply misunderstood the concept if you consider those "Hudson Valley Stations".
Would you consider them "Jersey Shore" stations as well?

"It's all about what you program" is only the beginning now, because the battle isn't just between (for example) PDH and HUD and RWD any more...it's between local radio and out-of-town radio and Pandora and Ipods and so forth. The stations have to be giving people something they won't find anywhere else, but how much of that are we seeing around here? There's one morning show page that hasn't been updated since 2005.

Which is why my dial is usually set to (albeit staticy) WCBS FM during my morning drive.

Can't wait for Disney to vote B94.3 in Pittsburgh as his favorite local CHR....you all know it's coming at some point.

So what's so unique about them nowadays? This isn't the CBS-FM we knew and loved back in the day.
