Probably for irony purposes, at least to people in the biz. I've heard the Jack version of the package on TM's web site and in many cases on the long jingles they cut, most of the original lyrics are still there until it's time to say "Playing what we want."
Aesthetically, most of the shorties are still pretty good (although they'd be better with the LA singers that originally cut them than with the Dallas singers the Canada Jacks used--and from what I hear, most of the people who cut "you," "The Winning Score" and "Fusion/Hot Hits" are still doing session work in LA).
